Jessica's pov:
Robin raises her head from her feet slightly; now she's looking at mine.
Improvement... I guess.
Not really... barely anything, but that's still improvement... barely not even-
"You can take the big room, it's the one on the north wall." Robins stutter has left, she's gained her confidence back.
"Thanks." I smile back, I thought I'd get stuck with a small room.
Say something. It's your turn to talk Robin.
"So... what's your major?" Robin asks to break the silence, not because she's curious.
No! Don't say that! When the question is answered it'll be my turn to say something!'
"Um I'm a uh, criminal justice major, you?" I answer anyways
Robin ignores the main word in my sentence "you" and doesn't answer, "criminal justice? Like lawyer, judge?"
Wait, yes! I'll say the answer and then it'll be here turn to hold the conversation and start a new topic! I'll be free!
I clear my throat before I speak, "Lawyer." I answer to her question of what I'm going to be... or at least I hope that was a question.
Was that a question?! Did I mishear? Damn it! That was stupid!
"Cool" I hear Robin say, I barely hear it through the cursing of myself in my head.
It's silent for another eternity, maybe longer.
Saying "cool" doesn't count as your turn in the conversation. Say something! C'mon mouth! Form words!
"So-" I cut myself off. Wait no, don't say anything until you have a plan!
Did I already ask what her major is? Did I get an answer? What do I say?
My arms tense by my side, my eyes thunderstruck as a frog jumps into my throat, As arms wrap around my neck from behind.
The frog jumps out after a second, when he realizes it isn't his pond, because the arms just belonged to Mia, whom I had forgotten was here.
"I'm a psychology major, what about you, concert gal?" Mia asks trying to get the answer to the question I had previously asked.
Robins eyes lower once again after Mia talks. Mia you brainless goddess you're worse than me.
Robin clears her throat again, the frog that escape my throat made it into hers. "I, I'm... I'm majoring in creative writing." I almost don't hear her, but I manage.
Not surprised.
"Cool. So what genre do you like to write?" Mia asks as a follow up, I don't know how conversations with strangers is such child-play for Mia... she's blessed...
"Sci-fi and action mostly, I dabble in romance from time to time." Robin answers Mia's question, she seems a bit more comfortable now that she likes the topic.
The frog has finally found its way out.
"Nice, action movies are the best! Have you ever written a script before?" Mia's eyes have lightened up like this is actually enjoyable for her.
"N-no, never. I mostly just write microscopic stories, y'know normally nothing more than a couple thousand words." Robin says like she's embarrassed to admit.
A couple thousand words? That's a lot... I guess not actually.. a thousand words would only be around 4 pages, and that's if it's double spaced. So not that much.
