"Hey, Patchy! What's with the goggles? You scared to mess up your other eye, or something?" Lucas said to me. I wear an eyepatch because I'm blind in my left eye. I was just walking into school, and it had been raining, so I put my goggles over my eyes to keep the rain out of my good eye and to keep my eyepatch from getting soaked with rain. I wear them on my head just for style. I tried ignoring Lucas, keeping my earbuds in and having Blink-182 on high volume to drown him out. "So? Why are you wearing those? Huh? Huh?" he teased. Oh my gosh, this stupid buffoon. Can he just leave me alone for one day? I thought as I put my goggles back on top of my wet, blonde hair, adjusting my eyepatch after I took them off.

"Go away, Lucas. You're wasting your time." I made a pretty nice comeback, if you ask me. I can't stand Lucas! He's been trying to rile me up since I first started wearing an eyepatch to school because the doctor said I had to. And for the first few years, I was really embarrassed about it and Lucas just made it worse. He keeps calling me names like "Patchy", "Patch", "Patches", and the worst one yet, "Eyeball". He spreads rumors about me like butter. He once started a rumor that there was an extra nostril where my eye was supposed to be, which is BEYOND crazy, because how is that even possible? "You should go and do something better with your life. Wait, you don't have one. Maybe go get one first and THEN do something with it." I told him.

"Oh, I have a life, Patchy." He tried to make that a comeback, but it was the lamest thing I ever heard. I punched in my student number, and then he did too. He's a tall kid, black hair, light skin, blue eyes, fluffy straight-boy hair, Nike tech every day (which is ew, by the way), and basketball shoes. Is he sponsored by Nike or something? It sure seems like it! He thinks that bullying me is cool, but it's the lamest thing that a human can even do! Nick, my boyfriend, wants to soak him to smithereens, but I won't let him do it since he'd get in trouble. I'm always the punchline of the jokes that Lucas makes with his friends.

"Blink! Over here!" It was Anthony, one of my close friends. My friends call me "Kid Blink", or they just shorten it to "Blink", because of my eyepatch. He waved to me as he chewed his gum and fixed his fluffy light brown hair. He was with Sean, his boyfriend, who was doing some math homework. They were with our other friends JoJo, Jack, Casey, Albert, Romeo, Mabel, David, and my boyfriend. I went over to the group and we did our handshake. "Lucas was bothering you again? Why does he do that? 'Ooh, an eyepatch! So different!' Literally what is going through his mind!" Anthony complained.

"Calm down, Racer! It's 7 am, you drank too much caffeine." David said to Anthony. We call him "Racetrack", "Race", or "Racer" because that boy can RUN! He got the fastest mile in the school when he was only a freshman! David always tells off Anthony when he does something stupid. "So, Blink, did you do the homework for financial math?"

"Wait, homework? What homework?" I asked, panicked. "I DIDN'T KNOW WE HaD HOMEWORK!!!" My voice cracked. Yikes.

"I'm kidding! There was no homework! Sorry, Blink!"

"What the hay, Dave! You really scared me, haha!"

"Sorry! Hey, Jack, did you bring yours?"

"I brought it! And it's right here!" Jack pulled an eyepatch out of his backpack. It was one of those ones from CVS, and the others had them too!

"What are you guys doing with eyepatches? Did you raid my collection, or something?" I joked. Everyone had an eyepatch in their hand, and I had no idea why.

"Blink, we're all wearing eyepatches today to show Lucas and his friends that you have people that got your back!" Mabel told me. She then went to hug me and I hugged her back. She saw me as somewhat of a brother figure, which was awesome since I don't have any siblings. She already has a brother though, and it's Anthony. She says he doesn't really count, but I guess that's just how siblings work. My black charm necklace dangled and just skimmed the top of her reddish-brown hair as she hugged me. She's a short girl, and she has reddish brown hair and hazel eyes. She is very sweet and draws me little pictures all of the time. Sometimes she even matches my outfits and we coordinate. She really looks up to me.

"Aw, thanks, you guys! You really didn't have to!" I told everyone. My friends are like an extended family that I don't live with. Especially Nick, since we hang out after school every day. "Guys, you're really like a family. And just like Romeo's favorite song says, 'you know what friends do, they got your back', and you guys are the best friends I could ever have!"

"Did I do it right?" Anthony joked, with the eyepatch on his nose. "Just kidding, yall." Anthony said as he put it on his right eye.

"'YaLl' Who are you, Jack?" Sean told Anthony.

"Hey!" Jack said.

"Shut up, cowboy!" Sean replied, angrily.

Everyone in the group had an eyepatch on, over either their left or right eye. I couldn't believe my eye! I have so many friends who support me and love me!

The bell rang "Alright, guys! Let's go to class!" Jack told us. We walked to our classes, and everyone was stumbling a little bit, and I laughed because I've been doing this since I was born.
