Next class I had was home ec with Benjamin. He loves sewing and he takes home ec every year just to sew. "Hey, Buttons! wait up!" I called as I ran to Benjamin, my backpack keychains jingling. We call him buttons because, like I said, he likes to sew. "Buttons! I'm glad I caught up with you!" He was wearing an eyepatch too, and he wore it on his left side, the side that I was on.

"Huh? Who's that? Oh, it's you, Blink! I couldn't see ya there!" Benjamin said. His eyepatch was hand-sewn, with some buttons on it. He kind of dresses like Young Sheldon, lots of bowties and fun dress shirts. He's also quite the fashionista, and he matched his eyepatch to his bowtie. "Do ya like my eyepatch? I used the same fabric that I used for my bowtie!"

"I love it! I like the addition of the buttons, it really gives that Buttons Davenport flare." I told him. He smiled at me, meaning that he liked the compliment. "Oh, and thanks for the eyepatch you gave me the other day! I'll be sure to wear it tomorrow!" Benjamin loves to give me handmade eyepatches, and they fit just with my style. I told you he was a fashionista!

We walked into class, and our teacher asked Benjamin why he was wearing an eyepatch and if he was okay. "I'm wearing it in support of Louis and his bullying situation!" Benjamin told the teacher. Just then, Lucas came into the room. He was holding hands with his girlfriend. They were looking each other deeply in the eyes.

"Watch where you're going, Patch!" Brittany screeched. She also calls me those stupid names. She was the one who walked into me! She went to sit down with Lucas and his friend. Me and Benjamin yapped about stuff like the newest Benoftheweek video, what we were going to have for lunch today, ya know all that good stuff.

"Alright class! Today we're going to be learning how to sew an eyepatch! Benjamin, I know that you already know how to do this, so you can watch us if you want and silently judge." He said. Mr. P was a real funny guy, and it was great to see him breaking gender norms and teaching home economics. And it was such a coincidence that we were learning how to sew eyepatches today since my whole friend group was wearing them.

"That's ok! I want to sew just like everyone else!" Benjamin replied. He was so excited to see how everyone did!

"Uh, I don't want to make an eyepatch. I want to make something else. That kid Louis is always wearing an eyepatch, and it's so weird. I heard it got poked out when he was young." There he goes again, making up another rumor about my eye. It's still there! And that kid is so ableist.

"Too bad, Lucas. You have to. Ok, so i'll do a demo and then let you guys go make one on your own. If you need any help, just ask me or Benjamin." Mr. P said. He did the demo, and then we went to grab fabric for our patches. I grabbed salmon pink and black, since I like those colors.

"Oh my gosh, put the pink back! You're a boy so you should get the blue!" Brittany whined. She thinks that pink is for girls and blue is for boys. She got pink and white, because she wanted to make it preppy.

"Actually, I like pink. It's a nice color. It really goes well wi-"

"Shut it. You know that you should have grabbed the blue." She grabbed the pink from my hand and shoved the blue into my empty hand.

"I..." I walked away with the fabrics, trying not to cry. She really got to me there. I went over to Benjamin, who noticed that my eye was filling up with tears.

"Hey, you ok? wanna go take a walk?" Benjamin asked me in a soothing tone.

I nodded my head and we went for a walk with Mr. P's approval. When we got outside of the classroom, I burst into tears, hugging Benjamin. Nick was walking to the water fountain when he saw us. He came over and joined the hug. "Are you ok, Blink?"

I shook my head, still crying. I was glad that he came over. I have the greatest boyfriend in the world. He started to stroke my hair, and it comforted me a bit. "Do you want to tell me what happened?"

"Mhm. I was grabbing fabric and I grabbed pink and then Brittany came over and threw gender stereotypes at me. She grabbed the pink out of my hand and shoved blue in it." I told Nick as me, him, and Benjamin were walking.

"Ugh, that stupid biotch! She doesn't know how handsome you look in pink!" Nick said. That made me feel a little better. I wiped my eyes ans then kissed him on the cheek.

"Yeah, I saw it all go down. She was too mean to him." Benjamin added. He looked like he wanted to soak Brittany.

"Hey, I'm feeling a lot better. Let's go back to class. Thanks for sticking with me, guys." I said. We walked back to class, and Nick got his water. When we walked back into the classroom, I grabbed the blue fabric that Brittany shoved in my hand and replaced it with the salmon pink that I originally got. Brittany saw me do this and she was very snobby about it.

"Uh, I think I did this wrong. Benjamin, can you please help me?" A kid said. Benjamin went right over to help. While he was helping, I started to sew my eyepatch together. I measured everything with an extra eyepatch I had in my bag. I outlined it in chalk, and then I started cutting. Benjamin came back to the table, and I told him that I wanted to put a star on it. He showed me how to embroider a star with embroidery thread and a needle.

"Just pretend that the fabric is Lucas and Brittany." He joked, while instructing me how to embroider. I giggled at his joke. I'd be so dead if he wasn't in this class with me!

I sewed the two pieces of fabric together, and I sewed them onto an elastic band. I looked over at Lucas and he was miserably failing. I giggled a little bit. He looked over at me and I dangled my eyepatch at him. I was so proud of it! We cleaned up and the bell rang.
