As the rehearsal began, the atmosphere in the drama room buzzed with a mix of excitement and nervous energy. The walls were adorned with posters of past performances, and the scent of fresh paint lingered in the air. Takeda-sensei stood at the front, his clipboard in hand, ready to guide the Karasuno Drama Club through their first rehearsal for "Hamilton."
"Alright, everyone! Gather around!" Takeda called, his voice cutting through the chatter. The members of the club shuffled into a semicircle, their expressions ranging from enthusiasm to apprehension.
Among them were Hinata, Kageyama, Yachi, Yamaguchi, and Ennoshita. Each of them was still grappling with the reality of being thrust into being a part of the dama club. Hinata fidgeted with his script, glancing nervously at Kageyama, who stood with his arms crossed, a scowl etched on his face.
"Today, we'll be assigning roles," Takeda announced, his eyes sparkling with anticipation. "I know you're all eager to find out who will be playing what."
Hiroto leaned against the wall, a confident smirk on his face. "I'm definitely going to be Hamilton," he declared, his tone dripping with self-assurance. His brother Hitori rolled his eyes from his position behind the lighting board.
"Keep dreaming, Hiroto," Hitori teased lightly, adjusting a knob on the board. "You're not even in the running."
"Shut up! I can totally pull it off!" Hiroto shot back playfully.
Reiko stood nearby, her arms crossed and a bemused expression on her face. "You might want to save that enthusiasm for your audition," she said dryly.
Takeda cleared his throat to regain their attention. "Now then! I have received word that the community drama club has already assigned their roles, but we'll be filling in for them here at Karasuno." He glanced down at his clipboard. "Let's see... Hinata will be playing Alexander Hamilton!"
Hinata's jaw dropped in surprise. "Me? Really?!"
"Yes! And Kageyama will portray Aaron Burr," Takeda continued.
Kageyama's eyes widened in horror. "What?! I don't want to be Burr!"
Yamaguchi couldn't help but grin as he whispered to Yachi, "Hinata as Hamilton? This should be interesting."
"Next up," Takeda continued, ignoring Kageyama's protests, "Atsushi will take on the role of Lee—"
"Wait!" Hiroto interrupted. "What about me?"
"Sorry, Hiroto," Takeda said apologetically but firmly. "You'll be playing Jefferson."
Hiroto's face fell slightly before he regained his composure. "Fine! I'll show you all how great I am as Jefferson!"
Yamaguchi's heart raced as Takeda announced the next roles. "Yamaguchi will play Angelica!"
"Yes! I mean—thank you!" Yamaguchi exclaimed, unable to contain his excitement.
"And Yachi will be Eliza," Takeda added with a smile.
Yachi blushed and nodded shyly. "I'll do my best!"
