On Monday morning, Kannan was enjoying his cup of coffee at the corner of cafeteria scrolling through social media feeds. Divya asked her colleagues for coffee but everyone was busy. She is not morning coffee person but this day she felt like having one as she was feeling sluggish. So went on her own to the cafeteria.

With coffee cup in hand she was looking for a perfect spot to avoid anyone noticing her as she is not in the mood for chitchat. She saw Kannan at the corner table sitting alone, without a second thought she went straight to his table and asked , "Do you mind if I sit here ?"
Kannan was spellbound. "Oh yeah sure, please", he said.

Divya : I am sorry for closing the lift door on you . Shouldn't have done that. I felt miserable after doing that. Really sorry!

Kannan : It's alright. Now I know that you hate me. But I appreciate your apology which confirms you are a good person.

Divya : Appreciate that! By the way, I don't hate you. To hate someone you should know that person. I just don't like you because of your opinion on women employees. I overheard from adjacent cubicle when you said you don't want to take woman teammates in your critical project.

Kannan : hmm , on hindsight I shouldn't have said that. I stand corrected.

Divya : why suddenly this change ?

Kannan : It is not sudden. I realised after Venkat- Jenny's replacement came to my project. Jenny was a better developer than him. Though she was quiet and reserved, I never had issues with her deliverables. With him I have to check on him for every update. No work ethics  and no commitments. I think nature punished me by putting him in my project for preferring a male employee.

Divya couldn't stop laughing after hearing Kannan. He was so natural and honest in admitting. She didn't doubt his honesty even for a second. Probably that's what society needs to clear any misconceptions. Just talk without judgement.

Divya put her hand forth and said , "Friends?"
Without wasting a second Kannan held hand and said "with pleasure "
