"I think you should come back to Spain with me this summer," Amelie declared, fingers tangled in Gracie's long chocolate locks, the shorter girl having her head laid in the blonde's lap as the two of them laid on the beach waiting for the sunset, "I know LA is known across America for its beaches and whatever, but honestly, Marbella makes this place look shameful."

"I think that sounds wonderful," Gracie lazily sighed, a content smile dancing across her lips as she reached up and took one of Amelie's hands in her own and kissed each one of her fingers, "I'd go anywhere with you."

"We can spend every minute of every day together, to make up for lost time when the school year starts again and we'll be at opposite ends of the country," Amelie decided, leaning down to kiss Gracie's forehead, "And since we'll be in Europe, you'll finally have no excuses for turning down the drinks I keep offering you. You know, virgin pina coladas have nothing on the real stuff back home. I think you'd like the sangria."

"That sounds lovely," Gracie giggled as Amelie peppered kisses all over her face, "You're lovely. I love you."

"I love you," Amelie echoed, "I actually have something for you."

Gracie sat up, facing the blonde girl. The sun was setting behind her, its warm rays dancing off Amelie's hair and kissing her skin. Her green eyes looked extra homely in that light.

"You can't keep giving me presents, Melie," Gracie whined, "I'm never gonna be able to match them."

"Well, you don't have to, because this one's for both of us," Amelie informed, pulling out a small velvet box from her pocket, taking Gracie's hand and placing it in her open palm, "Don't panic, just open it."

"Melie," Gracie gasped quietly, "Is this what I think it is?"

With shaking hands, Gracie unclasped the box. Inside laid two rings, gold and silver with a sun and a crescent moon on them respectively. The design was simple yet thoughtful, and Gracie immediately knew which ring belonged to who.

"Melie," Gracie tearfully said, "I don't know what to say, thank you."

Gracie tried to take the moon ring out of the box, only to be stopped by Amelie's hand.

"That one's mine," Amelie shook her head, taking the sun ring out of the box and sliding it onto Gracie's left pointer finger, "This one's yours."

"I thought-"

"I don't know how to shine without you, Gracie. You're my lighthouse on a pitch black ocean," Amelie professed, "I didn't know home could be a place until I met you, Madigan. You're my sun, if you'll let me be your moon."

Gracie couldn't help the tears that rolled down her cheeks, wiping them on the sleeves of her shirt. She threw her arms around Amelie's neck and kissed her softly, the blonde girl not minding one bit that Gracie was wet with salt and sniffly.

"They're promise rings," Amelie claimed, removing the moon ring from the box and sliding it onto her own corresponding finger, "My promise to you that I'll love you forever, for as long as you'll have me."

"I love you so much, Melie," Gracie buried her face in Amelie's chest, feeling the taller girl pull her closer than she thought possible, "Forever."

"Good, because it would be really unfortunate if I had to find another prom date for tomorrow night," Amelie joked, "That'd be really short notice, you know."

"You're such an idiot," Gracie laughed, and Amelie could feel it reverberate off of her own body.

She cherished the feeling.
