"I'm gonna take a nap," Asha declared, her voice was light but sleepy and content. They were in Deonte's car, cruising down the highway towards Dallas after a heartfelt goodbye.
Deonte prepared them all breakfast the way they enjoyed it individually. Asha got her breakfast bowl of eggs, pineapple, sausages, cheese, potatoes, and garnished with cilantro.
Deonte made himself two huge bacon and cheese omlets. And for Levi, he made five eggs benedict with a gang of crispy bacon. On the side they all had full glasses of orange juice to keep it simple.
It was all bittersweet, but they promised to call when they settled in and Levi left for work. At the very least, Asha was going to be with Deonte and he trusted him to keep her happy as he always does. That alone was enough to make him stop worrying about missing her so much.
On the road for only thirty minutes, Asha's fatigue begun to creep in and there was no use in fighting it.
"Aight baby," Deonte responded, glancing over at her with his left hand still on the steering wheel. "Do you want me to turn the air down?"
"Oh no. Please don't," Asha replied quickly. "I like it just the way it is."
Deonte nodded, Asha settled in her seat, closing her eyes and allowing herslef to drift off. He drove with one hand on her thigh, other still on the wheel after he turned the music up enough to fill the silence and keep his thoughts at bay.
This week was busy as is but Deonte and Asha managed to finalize the details for Levi's birthday weekend. And the three of them managed to "okay" all of the details of the launch next week. The production, warehouse, logistics, partnerships, and set-up details were a go. All they had to do was show up, smile, and take pictures when the time came.
Deonte had more of a lawyer mindset because of his schooling, but Asha and Levi taught him so much about business and he was grateful to have some of those skills under his belt as well.
The trio perfectly balanced each other out in their own way and Levi was the anchor despite how much he tries to claim that Deonte is. They had their strengths and weaknesses, and stuck to what they knew best and it works.
Asha was great at being creative with marketing materials, brand design, commercials, and copy. Levi was great at drafting emails, speaking proffessionaly, and with his charm, he could finesse a better deal with Deonte's suggestions. Deonte could sense a bad deal coming from a mile away when they were saying "Yes" and "No" to companies that they were reaching out to partner with.
But Levi had a way of making everyone feel loved by just walking into the room. One smile, one joke, and a surprising act of thoughtfulness. He always thought of Deonte and Asha first and made them smile with the smallest things.
One complaint about Deonte leaving his mouth guard in the locker room, Levi bought him several, boiled them and always had extra for just incase because Deonte didn't like the ones that were provided by the team.
One complaint about Asha's feet from wearing heels or boots to a game, Levi made sure she had a extra pair of shoes to take with them and always remembered to stuff it in her purse before games.
Added the dynamic with their loving, open, and accepting families, they have everything they all could dream of having in each other.
