Ballpit's POV
10:34 AM
"I'm not sure how you can drink thirteen glasses of martini in one night and then have a pumpkin spice latte the day after." I said to Feather who was, indeed, drinking a pumpkin spice latte from Barstucks. "It's fall." she replied simply. "Besides, you drink tea at 2 in the morning."
I rolled my eyes.
The Girls and I were casually walking around the city like a normal group of girls, if you don't count the people running away in fear or staring. We just wanted to get a bit of "fresh air", as stated by Feather, but I knew she just wanted to cause a bit of mischief around town. "You know..." Wooden Top said hopefully, drumming her hand on her caramel frappuccino. "There's a little library around the corner, why don't we go?" "For the last time, Wood," Diary grumbled, nearly crushing her affogato coffee. "We're banned from that place, we can't go." "And yet we're a girl group of criminals out breaking laws." Wooden Top said with a dramatic sigh. "So sad." "I don't care. No means no." Diary said firmly.
We all walked in silence, occasionally breaking it from taking slightly overreacted and/or loud sips from our drinks.
Passing by the electronics store where Muffin stole the microphones and earpieces, all of the TVS were on, starring the news. The news reporter object finished with their previous news topic (the weather, I'm assuming), then starting with another.
"From the previous night at the Auction Institute with the Red Herring stolen, the city is now questioning the eight detectives with their case on the female thieves, the Feather Girls."
The seven of us stopped in surprise to check to see what was going on.
"However, news from this morning, when one of our reporters questioned the lead detective, Mango, we were met with a surprising answer."
"Probably one of his long boring stories." Poison said, rolling her eyes in annoyance. "He's never changed."
A clip showed up on the screen, showing another news reporter object questioning Mango, the lead detective dressed in a lime green robe.
"What are you planning to do to catch this group of criminals, lead detective?" the reporter asked, bringing the microphone up for Mango to speak in.
"Well, dear news reporter," Mango began with a sort of smug drawl in his voice as he spoke. "I will not reveal it, for a good detective never shows his secrets. But, I will tell you this, and I pray that the city will rest peacefully. We're just going to...take them off their guard, to say the least."
He paused. Probably for a dramatic effect.
"One thing is for sure, they'll be in the Security High Prison by dawn next morning. I'll make sure it's something that they won't forget." Mango declared pompously.
"Yeah, totally." Diary said. "We've been on the run from them for–what–five, six, years now?" Moonstone chimed in. "It's been seven years, Moonstone." Diary told her. "Oh."
"I wonder what it could be, though." Feather said thoughtfully. "Maybe some kind of prized item or something?"
"Probably not our problem." I said, turning away from the TVS, the channel now on its ad compilations. "Come on, let's leave. I don't want to be out here any longer."
