Yn had spent the rest of the day in a hazy blur, her head pounding and her stomach twisting in uncomfortable knots. She had finally come to the decision she’d been avoiding. Pulling herself together, she approached Sarina’s office and knocked lightly.
Sarina opened the door with a gentle smile. "Yn, come in. What’s on your mind?"
Yn took a deep breath. "I... I think I need to withdraw from camp. I don’t feel well at all, and I don’t think I’ll be of any use like this."
Sarina’s face softened with concern. "Your health is the priority, Yn. Go home, rest, and take care of yourself. We’ll be here when you’re ready to come back."
With a nod of gratitude, Yn packed her things and left St. George's Park. Soon, she was back in her apartment, a bit disappointed that Summer wasn’t there—she’d mentioned the Cardiff photoshoot, but Yn had hoped for some company. She sighed and tried to shake it off, deciding a quiet night in with a movie would help distract her.
But as she settled in on the sofa, her stomach churned again. She barely made it to the bathroom before she was throwing up, her whole body exhausted as she leaned over the sink, gripping the edges.
A couple of hours passed, and she was curled up on the couch, trying to doze off. Finally, she heard the front door click open.
"Yn?" Summer’s voice called softly. She walked in, dropping her bags, and immediately noticed how pale and drained Yn looked. "Oh my god, Yn, you look awful! Are you okay?"
Yn managed a weak smile. "It’s been a rough day."
Summer came over and sat beside her, rubbing Yn’s back soothingly. "I knew you weren’t feeling great, but this… I don’t like this at all. Maybe we should go to the doctor."
Yn shook her head, though her face was troubled. "I think I know what it is, Sum."
Summer’s brows knitted in confusion. "What do you mean?"
Yn took a shaky breath, her voice barely a whisper. "Summer... I’m pregnant."
The room went completely silent as Summer stared, her mouth slightly open in shock. "Wait... what?"
Yn bit her lip, her own face a mix of confusion and uncertainty. "I just... found out recently. I didn’t know how to tell you."
Summer blinked, clearly processing, then finally whispered, "Yn... are you sure?"
Yn nodded, her heart pounding as she waited for Summer’s reaction.
Summer took a deep breath, still staring at Yn with wide eyes. She sat back, running her fingers through her hair as she tried to process everything.
“Wow,” Summer whispered. “This... this is a lot to take in.” She looked up at Yn, her expression softening. “Are you okay? I mean… how are you feeling about this?”
Yn gave a small, uncertain smile. “I don’t really know. It’s all kind of overwhelming. I’ve barely had time to even wrap my head around it, to be honest.”
Summer reached out, holding Yn’s hand tightly. “Yn, we’re in this together, alright? You don’t have to go through this alone. Whatever you decide, I’m right here.”
Yn exhaled, feeling a weight lift off her shoulders. “Thank you, Summer. I was so worried about telling you… I didn’t know how you’d react.”
Summer gave her hand a reassuring squeeze. “I’ll be honest, it’s a shock. But I care about you, Yn. That hasn’t changed.”
Yn’s eyes softened. “I don’t even know what’s next. I mean, with my career, with everything. It’s like… it all just flipped upside down.”
Summer nodded, thinking. “Look, we don’t have to figure it all out right now. Let’s take it one step at a time, yeah? First, we need to make sure you’re healthy. Have you seen a doctor yet?”
Yn shook her head. “No, not yet. I was kind of in denial… I kept telling myself it was just stress or maybe a bug.”
Summer gave her a gentle smile. “Alright, first thing tomorrow, we’re making an appointment. You’re not going through this without support.”
Yn’s eyes watered slightly, but she quickly blinked it away. “You’re amazing, you know that?”
Summer chuckled softly, giving her a playful nudge. “Just doing my job, taking care of you.”
They sat in comfortable silence for a moment before Yn looked over at Summer, her expression more serious.
“Summer… are you sure you’re okay with this? I know it’s a lot to ask.”
Summer held her gaze, her voice steady. “I’ve never been more sure of anything, Yn. Whatever happens, we’ll face it together.”
Yn let out a deep breath, finally allowing herself to relax. “I don’t know what I’d do without you.”
Summer smiled, leaning her head against Yn’s. “Good thing you’ll never have to find out.”
Yn took a shaky breath, avoiding Summer’s gaze as she looked down at her hands, twisting her fingers nervously.
“There’s… something else I need to tell you,” Yn murmured, her voice barely above a whisper.
Summer’s eyebrows furrowed with concern. “Yn? What is it?”
Yn took a deep breath, her voice wavering. “The baby… it’s not… it’s not ours. It’s… it’s Lucas’s.”
The room fell silent, and Summer blinked, processing Yn’s words. Her face softened with a mixture of understanding and sadness.
“Oh…” Summer finally said, her voice quiet. She took a moment before speaking again. “I… I didn’t realize. How… how are you feeling about that?”
Yn shook her head, a tear slipping down her cheek. “I don’t know. Lucas and I weren’t together for long, but it just… I don’t know. I never expected this. And now it’s just… everything’s so complicated.”
Summer reached over, gently wiping the tear from Yn’s cheek. “Yn, I can’t even imagine how confusing this must be for you. But I need you to know… this doesn’t change anything for me.”
Yn looked up, her eyes wide. “You mean that?”
“Of course,” Summer said firmly, squeezing Yn’s hand. “I care about you, and I’m here no matter what. We’re a team, remember?”
Yn managed a small smile. “I was so scared to tell you… I thought you’d feel differently, or maybe even want to walk away.”
Summer shook her head, her expression unwavering. “Yn, I know this is a lot, but I’m not going anywhere. It’s you and me. And if you want to keep this baby, then… I’ll support you every step of the way.”
Yn’s eyes welled up with fresh tears. “You’re too good to me, Summer. I don’t deserve this… I don’t deserve you.”
“Stop that,” Summer replied softly, brushing her fingers through Yn’s hair. “You deserve all the love and support, especially right now.”
Yn let out a shaky laugh, the tension finally starting to fade. “You know, when I found out, all I could think was… how am I going to do this alone?”
“Well, lucky for you,” Summer said, leaning in close, “you’re not alone.”
Yn’s smile grew, her gaze locked with Summer’s. “Thank you. I mean it, Summer. I don’t know what I’d do without you.”
Summer gave her a gentle kiss on the forehead. “You don’t have to think about that, because I’m not going anywhere.”
