AN: Good evening/morning good humans (or gremlins you never know). I am back to serve to you this weird story that I have been making for the better part of 2023. I have 10 chapters written down and am working on the 11th as we speak. I MIGHT bump the chapters per month up to two. Things to note for this chapter. I've previously said that Sive isn't the last Vala, that remains true. As I've previously gone over, there is actually an entire village of them. But anyway, in this chapter we meet Mrs.Isueda Firelight, who has a COMPLETELY MADE UP disease (is that what it would be classified as?) called Caeruleum (blue in Latin according to Google Translate). She has the hearing version of it so for her it constantly sounds like the ocean is right in her ears. This blocks everything else out and makes her legally deaf. Her "hearing ear panther" is actually her familiar that is hearing ear animal certified, but you have been warned he can destroy you on the field of battle.
Rania smelled Bastion approaching her. She just leaned back in the chair. The shepherd dog had been trying to sneak up on her for the entire time he was here. Rania had finally decided she was going to spook him this time. Bastion stalked closer. And closer. And closer. Then BAM! Rania stood up, scaring Bastion. He scurried away, his claws clacking on the wood. He barked at Rania from across the room. Rania laughed. The sound of fur rubbing against the tile indicated that Bastion had sat and he barked again.
"You should stop trying to sneak up on me then doofus." Rania told him, sitting down again.
She closed her eyes and leaned back. Bastion trotted over and licked Rania's hand. She lifted her hand and rubbed behind his ears, letting her fingers scrub back and forth as Bastion leaned into her hand. Rania heard a gentle hum come from her drumsticks in her backpack. Her eyes flew open.
"Shit." Rania thought, jumping up. "I'm going to take a ride mom!"
"Alright be safe!" Eiren called back.
Bastion trotted after Rania as she grabbed the drumsticks.
"No stay Bastion." Rania told him.
Bastion barked.
"No."
"BROW!"
"Mom! Can the dog come with me!" She called out.
"Yes, some fresh air will do the boy some good." Eiren said.
"Okay." Rania looked at Bastion. "You can come."
Bastion's tail started wagging.
"On the condition you stay by me the entire time."
"Woof."
"Good boy, heel."
Bastion trotted out at Rania's heels. He took Rania's drumstick's pouch and sat patiently as Rania threw on Delingr's tack real quick. She had finished in a matter of moments. She took the pouch from Bastion, tossing it over her horn and jumping on.
"Let's go Delingr." Rania said, spurring the Haflinger on.
Bastion ran along beside them, keeping pace easily. As they ran Rania touched the emblem on the front of her saddle. Woosh. Horse armor seemed to sprout out of the saddle, wrapping around Delingr. Her drumstick pouch changed to a saddle holster for an ax and shield. The weapons themselves glistened in the sunlight. The ax's handle was made of sleek wood and the blade was shimmering silver in color. The shield had a V with a circle around it. The same emblem on Rania's saddle. The emblem of the mighty Varangers. The trio burst out of Mistfall's woods running straight into a large clearing. There, a lean man with mousy brown hair was fighting against strange wolf-like creatures. They had black fur and bone masks covering their eyes and snouts. An algae green crocodile with maroon colored eyes fought beside him, tearing into one of the creatures and slapping his tail against the floor in anger. The man stabbed one of the creatures through the stomach with his spear, and the crocodile bit down on the neck of another. Rania drew her ax and shield. Bastion bared his teeth and charged into battle. He bit into one creature and chucked it against another.
