AN: Hello everyone! If you've been reading my other fics, I apologize for my inactivity. School has been kicking my butt with homework and this is what my brain has been working overtime on. Essentially stuff that isn't really talked about in this. Justin and a certain character have the "Vala" gene. They both have familiars. Sive isn't the only Vala, there is a whole ass village but more context on that in a future chapter promise. I think that's all the notes I have for this one. As always constructive criticism, feedback, and comments are encouraged. This was proofread three times by myself so there may be minor errors I apologize in advance. Hope you all had a wonderful Halloween and I hope you have a wonderful Thanksgiving (if you celebrate it)!

"Well, hun. He certainly is a handsome horse." Daniel Van Blyssen said, examining the fidgety Belgian Draught his wife held.

The gelding had a chestnut coat that was almost red in color and an ashy black mane and tail. Eva was stroking his neck in an attempt to sooth the horse's fears. The couple were standing in a secluded paddock at Jorvik stables.

"Would you like to keep him?" Dan asked.

"I would if it is possible, however I understand if you would not want to keep him." Eva answered.

"I think that you should take him out for a spin today. You're meeting up with Sigry and you guys are planning on doing cross country rides together right?" Dan said, "Bring him with you today to see how he does. If you truly love him and want to keep him then we'll keep this handsome man. Does he have a name?"

"I was thinking Phoenix. It's a new start for him. He's like a phoenix rising from the ashes." Eva said.

"I like it," Daniel said, smiling, "alright go meet up with Sigry. Need help getting on that horse?"

"I can do it, you head on out to the firm." Eva said.

"All right then, enjoy yourselves." Daniel said.

"Thank you Daniel. I'll see you tonight." Eva said.

Daniel smiled as he walked away.

"Come on bud. My friend said she got a lead on our mission. We're meeting her at a cafe in Jarlaheim harbor." Eva said.

Eva began to guide him to the fence where Herman had placed a saddle and reins. The saddle cinch was long and the headstall of the reins was large. Eva slipped on the headstall after taking off the halter. She knew that Phoenix wouldn't run away. She rubbed his neck as she let him sniff the pad. He snorted nervously after sniffing it and backed away.

"Not a fan?" Eva said, placing the pad back on the fence. "I won't go with a saddle then, it's okay we'll work on it. Can I hop on?"

The gelding walked to her, presenting his side to allow Eva on. Eva reached up and grabbed a fistful of Phoenix' mane. She placed a hand on his rump. She jumped, throwing her leg over. She slipped over the other side, landing on her butt. Phoenix sniffed her as she stood and tried again. This time Phoenix swung his head around and boosted her up. She landed in the middle of his back. Herman was now standing at the edge of the paddock sipping his drink.

"That was impressive Eva," he said.

"Thank you." Eva responded.

Phoenix started nervously shuffling his feet.

"I'll just take this saddle and get outta here. Have fun Eva," Herman said, grabbing the saddle and pad.

Herman opened the gate as he walked away.

"Thanks Herman!" Eva called after him.

Herman raised his hand, showing a thumbs up. Eva gently tapped Phoenix with her heels. Phoenix started walking at an even pace.
