"Mikha Lim, see me after class!" The teacher called Mikha over as the girl strolled into class.
"Ms Cruz? What for?"
"I need to speak with you," Ms Cruz replied curtly. The young student sulked, knitting her thick eyebrows.
"But I don't have time! I need to go shopping with-"
"You're staying back after class and that's final, Mikha Lim. Now go to your seat, lessons will start soon!"
Mikha huffed, brushing past the teacher in annoyance. She plopped down in her seat, taking her items out angrily.
"Woah, Mikhs, why are you so mad?" her friend Stacey gave her a friendly nudge and whispered.
"Ms Cruz wants to see me after class. Whatever it is for, I don't know. But it means I can't go shopping with you and Ate Maloi after school!" Mikha groaned in frustration.
"Aww too bad, Mikha. Next time maybe?" Maloi giggled, shutting up as Ms Cruz glared at the trio in the back. Class was about to begin.
Mikha was best friends with Stacey and Maloi, and they are the most famous students in the school. Rich, athletic, pretty but at times, mean. The jocks, guy and girl alike would swoon over them wherever they go. The nerds would line up and finish their homeworks for them voluntarily. Even the teachers would turn a blind eye to whatever they did, well, mostly. Ms Cruz for example, isn't doing that for Mikha.
Mikha was the most popular of the three, being the Volleyball Captain, getting anything she wanted just by asking for it. She had almost everything she could ask for, but one particular person isn't singing her tune. She looked in front as the student raised her hand, getting the teacher's attention.
"Yes, Jhoanna?" Ms Cruz called out. The student adjusted her glasses, pointing at the board.
"You got that part wrong, Ms Cruz. X should be 3 instead of 5!"
Murmurs sounded around the classroom as the teacher checked her notes and then the board.
"Oh you're right! Jhoanna, thanks for pointing it out! You're a great help!" The girl wasn't proud or anything, she just looked back down and continued scribbling down her notes.
Jhoanna Robles, the biggest nerd in class and probably the school.
She was the only one who had never given into Mikha. Once, Mikha had shoved her homework in Jhoanna's face, ordering her to finish it for her. But the girl paid her no attention, brushing past her and out of the class.
The thing is, Mikha could just ask any random nerd to do her homework for her but the constant rejections challenged her. She wanted to try and win Jhoanna over. She believed that the nerd would crack one day.
