How Stephanie Met The Autobots

Malibu, California

Stephanie Stark could not sleep. Not since she found out her father was alive and being held hostage by the terrorist group known as the 'Ten Rings'. She crept quietly down the hall as to not alert Obadiah Stan, her father's mentor, who had been staying over to watch over Stephanie during this hard time. As she neared the corner she heard Obadiah's voice and he sounded angry. 

"JARVIS, relay what he is talking about and to who." Stephanie quietly ordered and without saying a word, the AI system did as Stephanie requested, relaying to her phone and she held it up to her ear. 

"I am supposed to have Stark Industries by now! You were supposed to kill Stark when you captured him!" Obadiah yelled over the phone while Stephanie put a hand to her mouth. 

"Oh, I see. Fine! You handle it while I take care of the stray bitch he adopted from the streets." Obadiah sneered before laughing darkly. "Let's just say...I know people who would pay greatly for some of the powers she has." 

Stephanie quickly went back to her room, shut the door and locked it. She pulled a suitcase out and started packing only what she could before grabbing her phone and scrolling through her contacts, finding the one she needed. 

Steph-Director Fury, if that offer is still open, I would gladly take it at once.

She waited a few moments before her phone rang and she answered it.

"What changed your mind, Stark?" The voice of Nick Fury, director of SHIELD, asked over the phone. 

"I need to be away from everything that is going on with my father missing." Stephanie answered shortly and Fury hummed over the phone. 

"Very well then." Fury answered back before hanging up the phone and Stephanie sighed. 

Diego Garcia

"So let me get this straight....SHIELD and NEST have come to an understanding and you want me to act as your liaison for these...Autobots?" Stephanie asked Fury as the plane flew over the Pacific Ocean towards a place known as Diego Garcia.

"That is correct, Miss Stark." Fury said as he looked out of the window, seeing the base come into view. 

Stephanie went back to reading the files on the Autobots, finding that not much was given about them except that they were an alien race known as Cybertronians and that their home world of Cybertron had been destroyed during a war. There were two factions in the war, Decepticons and Autobots. 'Autonomous Robotic Organisms' or simply Autobots took on the form of Earth cars and were led by Optimus Prime. When Stephanie pulled up one of the photos of the leader, she swore her heart raced for a moment. 

'He's gigantic, robotic alien....why would my heart race at that?' Stephanie thought to herself as the plane landed and both she and Fury got off and were greeted by two men, one in military fatigues and the other in a crisp suit.

"Director Fury, Miss Stark. Welcome to Diego Garcia." The man in the suit greeted and Stephanie nodded.

"I am Major William Lennox and this is Director Theodore Galloway." The military man, Lennox, introduced as he shook hands with Stephanie with a smile, which she shared with him before she and Fury were led further onto base. 

"I must say, I am surprised at your presence, Miss Stark...shouldn't you be running dear old daddy's business instead?" Galloway asked in a condescending voice which made Stephanie raise an eye brow at him. 

"No. He has other people for that...besides, I do technically work for SHIELD and therefore, whatever Fury asks of me, I do." Stephanie responded, already not liking the man. 

The four arrived to one of the main hangers and headed up the stairs as several vehicles were rolling in, the very ones the Autobots transformed into. Stephanie stopped on the catwalk as Major Lennox nodded and Fury came to stand next to her. 

"Watch this." Fury said and Stephanie looked at him with a raised eyebrow before she heard wiring noises. 

Stephanie watched as the vehicles all started to shake and transform in front of her and she could hardly keep her mouth closed while her eyes widened. The large, blue and red-flamed Peterbuilt that had parked near the catwalk was the closest and Stephanie was enthralled as it transformed into Optimus Prime, who looked down at the four people, his electric blue eyes stopping on Stephanie before looking over at Director Fury.

"Director Fury." Optimus spoke and Stephanie shuddered at how deep his voice sounded. 

"Optimus Prime. This is Stephanie Stark and she will be my liaison from SHIELD to NEST." Nick Fury introduced as Stephanie offered an unsure smile.  

"It is...nice to meet you." Stephanie said with some uncertainty in her voice but Optimus seemed to smile at the young woman which put her at ease. 

"Welcome to Diego Garcia, Miss Stark." Stephanie swore her heart was racing again just from his voice. 

'I think....I think I am going to like working here.' Stephanie thought as both Director Fury and the General went over what she would be doing, not knowing that there now two Autobots looking at her from time to time.
