A D I T I

A heavy sound that I don't recognise makes its way to my ears. It feels blank and I slowly lift my heavy eyes. My vision is blurry and heavy, and the images in front of me aren't clear, but yes, I can feel the movements of people around me. The tiny vibration they cause while moving here and there sends a pain to my head.

"Aditi. Yes, you are doing good." I can hear someone speak, and they are so loud that my ears suddenly hurt. I closed my eyes, trying to fall asleep again, but I failed. Surrendering myself, I lift my eyes, the blurry image slowly stepping out of the fog, covering themselves into the colours. "Yes, good." A manly voice reached my ears as I blinked my eyes.

Five pairs of eyes are looking at me. Why? I ignored them, shifting my vision from them to my surroundings. It's a weird room. It has pink walls. "Can you hear me?" I slid my gaze to the man standing in front of me. He looks a little older than the one looking at me, and yes, he is wearing a white coat and a stethoscope around his neck.

A doctor, but why?

Did I collapse?

"Can you hear me?" He repeated his words, fixing his glasses, which slid down to his nose, and I tried to say no, but a terrible pain shot into my neck. "It's okay, it's okay. Just blink your eyes." I blinked my eyes as something rolled down them-tears.

"You can hear me, right?" The man asked and I blinked my eyes. "Good, your name is Aditi Shekhawat Right?" He added, and I slid my gaze to the second button of his white lab coat.

Aditi Shekhawat? He said that's my name but I don't remember such things-is it perhaps he is lying? I try to recall anything - my face, my family, my life - but my mind is a completely blank slate, and nothing makes sense.

The man's eyes, behind those wire-rimmed glasses, were now filled with concern. "Aditi, it's okay. You don't need to put a lot of pressure on your brain. Slowly you'll remember everything." He says softly, his voice filled with empathy.

I blink again, trying to Remember? What should I remember? The pain in my limbs shoots in again and I wince.

"I think we're pushing too hard. It can be dangerous too, Virendra." He added and the man behind him nodded. I look at him carefully, he is also wearing glasses, his nose is weird as if he had broken it multiple times and got it fixed. I remember this Doctor calling him with a name-Virendra.

Who is Virendra?

"Aditi," A woman with a kind smile and teary eyes steps in. "Are you okay, my c-child?" She cries, taking my hand in her as her fingers brushed on my skin and my joints hurt.

I was confused, so confused that everything around me suddenly started to spin. "Let's give her some time." That Virendra guy comes forward holding the woman from her shoulder as she breaks down in his arms.
