Several months had passed since the day Gregory, Cassie, and Vanessa ventured down into the pit and confirmed the death of the Mimic. In that time, a lot has happened. Vanessa had her brain surgery. Gregory was stressed out beyond belief for it, but with Cassie by his side, he remained calm until the surgery was complete. The chip in Vanessa's head, the same chip that controlled her, Freddy, Monty, and Bonnie under the V.A.N.N.I network was successfully removed and perfectly intact.
After recovery, Vanessa filed the paperwork and officially adopted Gregory as her son! Gregory's legal name is now Gregory Shelly!
And after the adoption was finalized, Vanessa signed Gregory up for school! A private school program since he missed out on several years of education, he needed a private program to catch up on what he missed. Gregory struggled at first, but with the help of Vanessa, Cassie, and the teachers of the program, he began to learn quickly.
After school, Gregory would always go to the Pizzaplex. He'd stay and do homework in either Glamrock Chica's or Roxy's green room. Meanwhile, Vanessa had her... own project...
Even after confirming Mimic's death and her surgery, Vanessa's paranoia didn't cease. She feared that something else could happen, some other creature could show up. So secretly when she should be working, Vanessa would sneak down under the Pizza Place.

Vanessa carried several bags on her back, filled with a bunch of machinery she "borrowed" from Parts-And-Service, and a computer for programming. She had to ensure that something like this would never happen again... She crawls into the room where Mimic's corpse remains in a heap... She set up her station, setting her computer on top of a cart, and using a hot spot, opened up her programming app... She sighed... this is gonna be a lot of work... but she started her new program... first, she takes the chip from her surgery out of her pocket, which she made sure to pocket after she woke up.
Vanessa: The tech in the chip should help me create an anti-virus or security protocol to prevent anything like the Mimic from ever coming back... and with the tech still functional in the Mimic... oh yeah, it's all coming together...
She sets the chip on the cart, plugging the chip into her computer... She has an idea... she types in 4 letters to start...
M.X.E.S
And over several months, after making sure Gregory is back from school, Vanessa sneaks away every time the doors to the Pizzaplex close, sneaking down to the pit every night... Every night as Gregory is upstairs, doing his homework, or playing with Cassie and the animatronics, she's underground, working on her security protocol she's dubbed M.X.E.S. Every night programming away... Even at home, Vanessa was working on M.X.E.S on her home computer, ignoring Gregory for the most part to get this done... She couldn't relax if there was even the smallest chance of something bad happening in Freddy Fazbear's Mega Pizzaplex again...

Gregory tosses his backpack down as he enters Chica's greenroom, and luckily she's in there, having finished up a show
Chica: There's my little man!
Chica leans down and picks up Gregory. And Gregory, despite being 12 years old, Gregory doesn't mind being picked up by the animatronic.
Gregory: Hey, Chica!
Chica: Did you have a fun day at school?
Gregory: Sure did! Math is hard, but I'm getting better at it!
Chica nods and sets him down, he runs over to plop on her little couch
