E Rank Adventurer

Max accepted Fay's deal and joined both the guild and the Rose family. He now had a name again, it did not bring back happy memories, but he had one. He was no longer a nobody. And, more significantly, he had a family again, and not just any family, but his biological family. Indeed, there were some missing, but that was alright.

They will eventually return, and the Rose family will regain its formal might.

Walking over to the adventure guild with Fay, he couldn't help but wonder what would what rank he would get.

Because it really mattered, if he got a low rank, he would have to work a lot harder to reach his goal. If he got a respectable rank, it would be alright, and if he got a high rank, it would make this much easier.

Higher ranks have access to more train facilities, like training grounds and libraries, and more notably, your own room.

'The weak work hard to not be left behind, meanwhile the strong work just to say they did, and look down upon others like they are gods.'

He chuckled at the irony.

The adventure guild was massive, and even that felt like an understatement to many people. It was just a little smaller than the main building. This probably meant that it was the more popular in the sectors, so basically a popular kid.

It had three stories, which for the poor was a dream and for the rich the bare minimum, it had one of those official looks you would see at any governmental structure, but it made sense, the guild was after all kind of the government in this world, this gave it a sense of power and influence.

What it lacked were windows, it had some but not enough for its size, which was a shame. Max also wasn't a fan of the color, like yellow? Who thought it was a good idea? White would have done it more justice, he will have to talk to his sister about it.

The interior was exactly what you would think it looked, the furniture made out of expansive materials made it look more like a place where nobles came maybe even royalty, not some thugs full of blood and mud.

But who was he to talk, I mean he was essentially portraying himself just now, he really did have to get some new clothes.

In a corner there stood a man in a receptionist boot, he was wearing knight armor. Max was unimpressed, he thought that this presentation was useless, maybe even for some uncomfortable, he was part of that group.

The testing process took more time than he thought, maybe it was because he hadn't done a lot of exercise or because of his injured soul but he was very tired after he got done.

And what were his results? Well, let's look at his new adventure card.

***

Name-Max Rose.

Class- Swordsman.

Style- Augmenter.

Soul capacity- D Rank.

Drives- Blue Lightning.

Species- Full Human.

Guild's titles- None

People's title- None

Soul class- Bronze

Final ranking- E Rank.

Needless to say, he felt disappointed but also a little baffled.

'Only E Rank?'

He was expecting a lot more, I mean looking at how he defeated two men who were by his judgment pretty powerful, it even caused him to damage his soul... damage his soul? That was it! He had to have gotten such a low rating because his soul was damaged and wasn't as powerful as it normally was.

But also what did some of these things mean,[Drives] was obvious, and for some, he had an idea of what they meant, like [Guild's titles] and [People's titles] which probably meant titles given from an inside source meaning the guild, and an external source meaning the people of the human kingdom, or maybe even other species.

But there were some that he had no idea what they meant, for instance [Species], could others besides humans apply for the adventure guild?

Another thing he will have to keep in mind for his next talk with Fay.

After getting his adventure card, Fay brought him to a room, he didn't know why or what it was so he wondered what she was planning. Inside he saw the two girls, and after hearing Fay introduce him as their brother he realized what was happening.

They had certainly grown, well it's not like he had spent a lot of time with them, he was either busy or with Isabelle. So it was fine if they didn't recognize him, even he didn't recognize them until he heard Fay's words.

After the introduction, he spent some time with them. Playing, talking, reminiscing about the past, and laughing. Max had also learned what everything on his card meant.

[Name] was, of course, his name, [Class] was also pretty self-explanatory, [Style] meant his fighting style. There were two ways, through enchanting his body or weapons with his drive or conjuring his drive in different forms to make attacks.

He had learned about [Soul capacity] from Arthur, but he had said his soul capacity was big, so he was expecting at least a C rank, well it didn't matter it was still his best stat. And yes other species can join the guild that's why [Speices] exists, but why did it say fully human and not just human? That was for people who are also vessels, so if Max told people about him being a vessel for a dragon it would have said

[Species]-Human Dragon Vessel

The stat he found most interesting was [Soul class], which meant how strong your drive from your soul was, so if two people with the same stats and drive would fight and their [soul class] was different, the one with the higher class would win since his drive would be more powerful.

The classes for [Soul Class] were Bronze, Silver, Ruby, Sapphire, Jade, Gold, Platinum, Emerald, Obsidian and finally Diamond.

There were ten ranks in total. And he was in the weakest one, but it must have been because of his soul being damaged...right?

At night Max encountered a very nice surprise, he had a room! He wasn't sure why, E Ranks don't get rooms, it was probably because he was part of the leader's family.

The next day when he woke up he told Fay he wanted to start adventuring, his soul had healed enough to allow him to use his drive for a little bit, and he wasn't even allowed to go on dangerous missions as an E Rank so there wasn't even a reason for him to use it.

But still, she insisted Max join a party before he started. And not wanting to waste time arguing with her he joined a one.
