Just like that the Max stood alone in the gigantic home. The people he had considered family had died, and every person who was hired to serve them had left. Only he was left, and he also had to leave. His family didn't have time to sign adoption papers, so he couldn't stay.
He's going to have to wander the streets again.
Max frowned, hatred was shown in his eyes, it was all because of those men that this had happened.
Walking through the streets Max couldn't help but think something was wrong, the streets were full, and there were loud noises from inside the crowd.
Walking deeper into the crowd Max was able to see what was happening. It was the guild leader and one of her lieutenants, they had returned. It was over no one was going to try something big with them around. He should be happy.
But he wasn't...
He wasn't at all. He felt a deep hate inside him for the leader. If she came from vacation a little faster he would still have a family, how did it even take that much? He could have gotten here in a maximum of two days. They had spent over a week. How could you be so strong, but in a state of emergency be so slow?
Seeing the smile on everyone's faces disgusted him, they looked up to her like dogs to their owners. Like she was a god coming to save them. She wasn't a god, for Max she was a careless egoist leader. Someone who doesn't care for their people.
The girl got handed a microphone.
"As you can see everyone, we have returned as we promised."
Loud cheering was heard from the crowd, and some eyes started crying.
"And to honor our return we shall host a party. Tonight you may come to the guild where we will host a party."
What kind of leader did their kingdom's guild have, a party? After so many deaths so much suffering, cries, a party? Was it to try to make the people happier or to distract them from their losses, it didn't matter which one it was pure evil hidden under a mask.
A party isn't going to bring anyone back, and if they wanted to make the people happier they should have hosted a funeral for all that have died, not host a party!
'That's bullshit!'
Everyone stopped talking, looks like he had said that out loud.
"Who said that."
The people around Max started moving aside for the leader to see him.
Seeing the hate in Max's eyes she got confused, everyone else was happy, why was this kid mad?
"Bullshit huh? I assure you it's not. You know what, tonight I want to see you at the party, il even make the drinks and food free."
She chuckled, trying to make the kid lose the hatred, but it didn't do anything.
She then let out a sigh and continued where she left off.
...
Later when she was at her office her lietuened entered.
"Mis Faye excuse my intrusion, but the party is starting in a few minutes, remember act happy you don't want to show the people that you are not doing very well."
Looking at the girl now she looked different from what she looked normally, she didn't have a smile on her face, her full of light eyes, and her very confident and loud way of speaking, instead, she looked tired and sad. Her voice was quiet.
"Yes, I know. You said you still don't know anything about the other two?"
'Sadly no.'
"Alright let's go welcome the audience."
Walking to the entrance of the guild she saw a huge crowd of people waiting, looks like a lot of people were excited about this party.
She came up to the front of the huge crowd and greeted everyone in her normal voice, the audience was ecstatic. Among the raucous cheers, she recognized a boy.
Max eventually chose to come after much discussion between him, who didn't want to, and the dragon, who did. He was not happy about it, but he was present.
Then they were welcomed inside, and the guild was decorated to look like one of the areas where a party would be thrown, it was strange because people usually came here after a difficult quest or after losing their parties, and now they were celebrating here.
There were lots of people here, ranging from old adults to children, and of course, they were supervised by a parent, only he came alone. Would Arthur or Reina have come with him?
There wasn't much to do. He couldn't drink many of the drinks there because they contained alcohol, and he was not much of a dancer. So he stood at a table and ate, after all, they were free.
Max was eating when someone approached him. It was the leader, she sat down beside him.
"Looks like you came, what do you think?"
"It's lame, I only came for the food, and maybe a place to sleep if this goes overnight."
She laughed.
"You're a funny one."
Funny one? He wasn't trying to be funny at all. That's exactly why he came here.
"What's your name?"
Max stopped eating for a second.
'Max... that's my name'
"Just Max?"
'Yes'
"I also had a brother with that name, he was very kind and full of hope. You remind me of him."
He said while leaving and going to grab a drink.
...
After several hours, every adult had become drunk, and the kids had left with their parents, even the leader was so heavily intoxicated that she could barely move. Such a pitiful appearance.
A moment of silence.
'This looks like a perfect time for an incident to happen. Well, I'm leaving.'
Max exited the building, it was dark, and the wind was cold.
He was about to leave for the hill when he saw something with the corner of his eye.
'Fire guy?'
