The night of the school dance had finally arrived, and the atmosphere in the air was electric. As Jayden and Konner stood outside, waiting for Juni to pull up, Jayden could hardly contain the mix of excitement and nerves building in his chest. His hands felt clammy, and he adjusted his shirt for the fourth time, trying to make himself look presentable. He had changed his mind at the last minute, opting for something simpler than the suit Julio had picked for him.

"Relax, you're going to look fine," Konner teased, nudging him as he fiddled with the collar of his shirt for the 100th time.

"I feel like I'm overthinking it," Jayden admitted with a nervous laugh, glancing over at Konner, who looked effortlessly cool in his outfit.

"You're always overthinking it," Konner teased, but his voice was light and playful. "You look fine. Just let loose tonight, okay?"

Before Jayden could respond, the sound of a car engine pulling up interrupted their conversation. Juni's bright blue car screeched to a stop in front of them, the music blasting from inside as she rolled down the window with a grin.

"Are you two ready to make a grand entrance or what?" Juni shouted over the music, her playful energy infectious.

Jayden's cheeks warmed as he climbed into the backseat of the car. "Grand entrance? I'm just trying not to pass out from nerves."

"Same," Konner muttered, flopping into the seat next to Jayden, looking surprisingly calm, but Jayden knew he was probably as nervous as he was.

Juni pulled away from the curb, and the conversation shifted to more casual topics. But of course, Juni couldn't resist making Jayden squirm a little.

"So, Jayden," she began, looking at him through the rearview mirror, her voice laced with mischief. "I see you decided to go with a... better look than the one Julio picked out for you. What happened? Did he force you into the suit and you ran away at the last second?"

Jayden buried his face in his hands in embarrassment. "No! It's just... I don't know. It felt too much for me, okay? It wasn't me."

Juni laughed, her voice lighthearted and teasing. "Oh please, Jayden, I know you too well. You got embarrassed and chickened out, didn't you?"

Jayden groaned, slouching down in his seat. "I swear, Juni, you're never going to let me live this down."

"Oh, don't worry," she said, laughing. "I won't. But you do look cute. I mean, you always look cute."

Her teasing tone made Jayden roll his eyes, but he couldn't help the small smile tugging at the corners of his lips.

The car pulled into the school parking lot, and Juni gave them one last playful wink before they climbed out. "I expect to see you both dance, alright? Don't make me come in there and drag you both onto the floor!"

Jayden waved her off, and the moment the car drove away, he felt the full weight of the night hit him. He glanced at Konner, whose face was unreadable for a moment before he smirked.

"You ready?" Konner asked, looking at Jayden with an eyebrow raised. Jayden could only nod, his nerves returning full force as they made their way toward the entrance.

As they stepped into the gymnasium, the first thing that struck Jayden was how different it looked. The lights were dimmed, and the room was aglow with a mix of twinkling white lights, icy blue decorations, and snowflake patterns painted on the walls. A giant ice sculpture of a tree stood at one end, with frosted branches and glowing lights that made it look like something out of a winter fairy tale. The dance floor was packed with teens already, a sea of glittering dresses, suits, and laughter filling the air. The music was loud, but the moment Jayden stepped inside, everything seemed to quiet in his mind. He had never felt so out of place and yet strangely at ease.
