The next morning began with the smell of freshly brewed coffee wafting through the cabin. Zander was already in the kitchen, shirtless in a pair of loose joggers, flipping pancakes with a practiced ease. His tattoos caught the early sunlight streaming through the window, the intricate designs on his arms appearing even more vibrant.Julio walked in, still in his soft lavender pajama shorts and an oversized sweater. He leaned against the counter, watching Zander with a smirk. "Should I call you Chef Zander?"
Zander glanced at him over his shoulder, flashing a grin. "If you're lucky, I'll serve you breakfast in bed one day."
Julio snorted, reaching for a mug and pouring himself some coffee. "I'll believe it when I see it."
A loud yawn interrupted them as Konner stumbled into the room, his hair a mess. "Morning," he mumbled, rubbing his eyes. He sniffed the air and perked up. "You're cooking? Guess I picked the right cabin."
"Breakfast for everyone," Zander announced, flipping another pancake onto the growing stack.
Jayden appeared moments later, looking more put together than Konner but still clearly tired.
As they all ate, the teachers' voices crackled over the retreat's PA system, announcing the day's plans.
"Good morning, seniors!" one of the chaperones called. "It's a beautiful day, and we've got a packed schedule. This afternoon, we'll head to the lake for swimming, kayaking, and other activities. Meet at the dock by noon, and don't forget sunscreen!"

By late morning, the group was ready to go. Julio had slipped into his two-piece swimsuit, the vibrant tropical design standing out against his skin. He paired it with a sheer white cover-up and platform sandals, turning heads as they walked toward the lake.
Zander trailed behind him, carrying a bag with towels and sunscreen. His black swim trunks clung to his hips, and his tattooed arms were on full display, drawing just as much attention as Julio's outfit.
Jayden wore a loose-fitting T-shirt over his swim trunks, as he walked beside Konner, who was in a bright blue tank top and colorful board shorts.
"You sure you're okay?" Konner asked, noticing the way Jayden kept glancing toward the water as they approached the lake.
Jayden nodded quickly but didn't meet his eyes. "Yeah. I'll just... hang out on the shore. It's fine."
"Don't worry," Konner said, nudging him lightly. "You and I can be team land. We'll hold down the fort."
Jayden smiled faintly, grateful for Konner's understanding.

The lake was bustling with activity. Students spread out on towels, set up portable speakers, and splashed in the clear blue water. Teachers stood off to the side, keeping a watchful eye on everyone but allowing them to enjoy their freedom.Zander wasted no time diving into the water, his powerful strokes sending waves rippling around him. Julio followed cautiously, wading in slowly and letting the water lap at his legs.
"It's cold!" Julio squealed, hopping in place as the water rose higher.
"Stop being dramatic," Zander called, swimming back to him. He held Julio and pulled him in deeper, laughing as Julio splashed him in retaliation.
"Zander, I swear—!" Julio's shriek was cut off by laughter as Zander dunked him gently.
On the shore, Konner and Jayden sat on a large towel under the shade of a tree. Konner rummaged through their bag, pulling out snacks.
"You didn't want to go in?" Jayden asked, watching the others from a safe distance.
"Nah," Konner replied, popping a chip into his mouth. "I'm good right here. Plus, someone's gotta keep you company."
Jayden glanced at him, his cheeks flushing slightly. "Thanks," he said quietly.
"No problem," Konner replied with a grin.

As the day went on, everyone settled into their own rhythm. Groups formed for games of volleyball on the sand, others paddled out onto the lake in colorful kayaks, and some simply lounged on towels, soaking up the sun.
Julio and Zander stayed in the water for most of the afternoon, their playful banter carrying over the noise of the lake. At one point, Zander hoisted Julio onto his shoulders, much to Julio's protests.
"Put me down, you giant!" Julio shouted, though his laughter made it clear he wasn't really mad.
"Not until you admit I'm the cook ever," Zander teased, his grin wicked.
"Hell no."
Zander pretended to think about it. "Close enough." He let Julio slide off his shoulders and into the water, earning another splash in the face.
On the shore, Konner and Jayden watched with amusement.
"They're like a sitcom," Konner commented, shaking his head.
Jayden smiled, his nerves about the water temporarily forgotten. "They really are."

By the time they returned to the cabin, everyone was sun-kissed and exhausted. Julio immediately collapsed onto the couch, pulling a blanket over himself.
"Wake me when it's dinner," he mumbled, his voice muffled.
Zander chuckled, leaning over to kiss the top of his head.
Konner and Jayden retreated to their room, where Jayden finally let himself relax. He glanced out the window at the fading sunset, a small smile on his face.
Konner flopped onto the bed, folding his hands behind his head. "You survived your first lake day. Proud of you."
Jayden rolled his eyes but couldn't help but laugh. "Thanks, I guess."
As the night settled over the retreat, the cabin grew quiet, the peaceful sounds of the forest lulling them all into a sense of calm. Their week was just beginning, and the adventures ahead promised to be unforgettable.
