Part 3

Candice: (sitting on the couch, trying to control her emotions) "Mzi, I've been feeling so alone lately. You spend hours worrying about your family, but what about us? We can't keep living like this!"

Mzi: (leaning against the wall, arms crossed, his voice low) "I'm doing what I have to do. My mother needs help, and my siblings—"

Candice: (cutting him off) "I get that! But every time I turn around, I feel like I'm just in the way. You're always gone, or when you're here, it's like I'm talking to a ghost. It's like our lives don't even matter to you!"

Mzi: (his eyes narrowing) "Why can't you understand? I'm trying to build a future for us. It's not easy when I have to play both roles—boyfriend and provider."

Candice: (standing up, frustration seeping out) "I never asked you to be my provider, Mzi! I just want us to share this life together, but all you do is push me away. And now, you're treating me like a burden!"

Mzi: (hisses through clenched teeth) "You think it's easy for me? I'm doing the best I can with the mess I've inherited! Maybe if you spent less time with your friends and more time helping me—"

Candice: (her voice shaking) "That's not fair! You think I'm cheating because I want some companionship? You act like I'm supposed to just sit here and wait for you to snap out of whatever darkness you're drowning in!"

Mzi: (voice darkening) "And what if I'm not capable of that? What if I'm broken beyond repair and you can't see it? You want to leave, don't you?"

Candice: (pleading) "No, I don't want to leave, but I can't keep pretending everything's okay. I love you, but this isn't love anymore, Mzi. This is just pain!"

Mzi: (a flicker of rage in his eyes) "Pain? You think you know pain? You have no idea what I've been through. You're—"

He raises his voice, his anger boiling over. Candice steps back, her fear evident as they stare at each other, the weight of unspoken words hanging in the air.
