Secrets Spilled on a Sick Day (Vermillionshipping)

Well, I'll be honest I completely forgot about this collection. But, I feel like Writing something, so why not add to this collection? After forgetting its existence for nearly a year lol. I'm still open to taking requests by the way, because I might be coming back to this one a few more times. Anyway, I mentioned this incident in passing in my main fic, the Trainer's Guide to the Pokémon World, so I decided to expand upon it. Please note, I've never seen Journeys, so all of this comes from a recap I watched while writing the main fic.

Goh was training his Pokémon late into the night again. Chloe had to admire him for that, he was resilient. But he'd been doing this these past 3 nights, and Professor Cerise was starting to get worried. So, he sent Chloe out to talk him into going to bed. So now, Chloe had to step out into the reservation to speak with the boy she's spent the past few years crushing hard on. What could she say? She had a thing for brainiacs. 

When she approached him, Goh was training his Mantyke, trying to get it to evolve into a Mantine. He'd been trying for the last three days, and Chloe and her dad were starting to get worried. "Goh!" Chloe called to him. "Maybe you should stop now! It's getting late, and you've been in that water for all afternoon! You could get sick!" Goh just waved her off with a laugh. "I'll be fine Chloe," he replied. "I'm so close, I can feel it! Mantyke is almost there!" Chloe just sighed and shook her head. "Ok," she called back. "But don't come crying to me if you get sick!" Goh just waved her off again and insisted that he'll be fine. So, Chloe sighed, then went back inside.

Shocker to absolutely no one, the sound of coughing and sneezing filled the lab the next morning when Chloe woke up. She went to the entrance to find Goh arriving in a terrible state. "Hey," he said weakly. "'m here to train Mantyke again." "Oh no you are not!" Professor Cerise cried when he arrived and spotted Goh. "You are going straight back home to get some rest! You're obviously sick!" "'m fine!" Goh replied. "Need to train!" Then, he started walking towards the main reservation. Before he could get very far, he began to fall forward.

Chloe ran over to him and caught him before he could hit the ground. She felt rather flustered doing this, but her concern for Goh far outweighed her awkwardness. Cerise sighed, rubbing his eyes. "Well, I guess you're in no shape to return home now," he admitted. "Chloe, take him to your room, and keep an eye on him. Don't let him back out until he's recovered enough to return home!" Chloe went red at the thought of bringing her crush up to her room, but she relented and does as she's told. 

As she led Goh up to her room, he started talking nonsense. He kept shouting out water time moves, and occasionally letting out a weak cheer. She got him to her bed, then laid him down in it. "You need to sleep now Goh," she told him, ignoring her own burning face. "You'll feel better once you do." Goh mumbled something, but didn't get up. So, Chloe smiled at him, then turned to go.

But as she was leaving, Goh called out to her. "Hey, Ash," he mumbled. "I need to tell you a secret." Chloe very nearly snickered at the fact that he thought she was Ash, but she didn't say anything about it. "Sure," she said, turning back to him. "What is it?" "I's very important tha' Chloe doesn't know about this," he told her. "Got it?" Chloe nodded, not trusting herself to speak. Sure, she should probably not hear this, as Goh doesn't want her to know, but she was incredibly curious about what he was trying to keep from her. Goh closed his eyes for a bit, and Chloe thought he fell asleep. But then, he said, "I like her. I like her a lot."

Chloe felt the world spin slightly at this. He liked her? Like, LIKE liked her!? Before she celebrated too soon, she decided to confirm this first. "So, uh, what do you like about her?" she asked, trying to hide how flustered she was. "She's very pretty," Goh admitted. "Super caring, especially with her Eevee. I wanna be 'er boyfriend. But 'm scared." "Of what?" Chloe asked, afraid she might swoon. "She mightn't feel the same," he replied. "Might reject me, 'n' not want to see me anymore."

Chloe shook her head. "Of course I- I mean, she wouldn't stop wanting to see you!" she exclaimed. "You're awesome! In fact, I think she might feel the same way!" Goh's eyes seemed to glow with delight at this. "Think so?" he asked. "I do," she replied. "Maybe you should try asking her when you're better." Goh thought about that, then nodded. "Maybe I will," he said, before rolling over. "Gonna sleep now. Thanks Ash." "No problem," Chloe replied, barely managing to stifle a laugh. She left Goh alone after that. Once she left him alone, she ran over to a couch, grabbed one of the cushions, and screamed with happiness.

After getting a bit of rest and taking some medicine provided by Cerise, Goh felt well enough to return home for the night. Chloe contemplated telling him about what he said to her in her room, but decided against it and let him return home. He came back to their lab 2 days later, looking a lot better. When he entered the building, he looked sheepishly at both Cerises. "Well Goh," said the professor. "I hope you've learned your lesson?" Goh nodded. "I have," he told him. "From now on I'll pace myself with Mantyke's training." Cerise gave an approving nod, then allowed him through to the reservation. Chloe watched him go, then decided to follow.

When he saw her come after him into the reservation, Goh went pink and focused on Mantyke. Chloe watched him work for a bit, before deciding to broach what they'd talked about a few days prior. "Hey Goh," she said, walking over to him. "Remember a few days ago when you were sick, you spoke to me?" Goh froze. "I did what now?!" he asked. "Goh spoke to me, thinking I was Ash," Chloe explained. "And you said something quite interesting." Goh seemed to visibly panic at this. "D-did I now?" he asked. "What did I, uh, what did I say?"

Chloe took a deep breath. "You admitted to liking me," she told him. Goh looked so shocked by this that Chloe was worried he'd fall into the river again. "What!?" he asked. "Oh my Arceus, I'm so sorry!" "No, no, it's ok," she told him. "I didn't mind. In fact, I, uh, I feel the same way." This time, Goh was so shocked that he actually did fall into the river. Chloe helped him back out, then they stare at each other for a while. "You what!?" he asked. Chloe nodded and repeated herself, much more sure of herself this time.

Goh stared at her for a bit longer, biting his lower lip. So, then, uh," he sputtered. "Does that, uh, mean that you'd, uh, wanttobemygirlfriend!?" He said that last part very fast, but Chloe got the picture. "Yes," she told him. "Yes I would." Goh whooped at this and hugged her. Feeling brave, Chloe gave him a quick peck on the cheek. Goh seemed to factory reset at this, which made Chloe laugh. "Come one you big goof," she said. "Let's evolve your Mantyke." Goh nodded dumbly, then the new couple spent the rest of the day training Mantyke. If they got sick, so be it. At least they'd be sick together this time.

Well, that was fun. I kinda took inspiration from an episode of Big Bang Theory with this one, and I think it turned out well. Now, I'd like to say I'll see you soon with the next one, but for all we know, that could come out soon, or next year, or never. We'll just have to wait and see what the Fates allow.
