Chapter four
Elijah Dawson

I couldn't sleep or do anything. I started to pace back and forth after Ella went back upstairs. I worry for her. I haven't told her the whole truth about me. I am dead, but not really dead. I have to finish my task to cross the bridge.

But the first thing I need her to do is to find out who killed me, which demon did it. I want her to be safe. I went up and saw her sleeping; she looked so peaceful.

I touched her skin, and I could feel her. I don't know why I can feel her, but I'm happy I can. She opened her eyes slowly and smiled. I know I shouldn't have feelings for her, but I can't stop my heart from beating her.

I kissed her lips, and she jerked up. "Did you just kiss me?" she asked. "I'm sorry, I have to. What if I'm never going to see you again?" I asked. "You can't just kiss someone like that when they're asleep," she said.

"I know, I know, I messed up, okay? It's just that I'm scared of being alone. You get me all the time, you understand me all the time. I can't lose you."

"Whatever is out there that killed me could kill you. I can't let you go. I won't," I said. I stormed and closed the window, then locked the door in her room.

"Elijah, let me out! Elijah, this isn't funny! Elijah!" she yelled, banging on the door loudly. "I'm sorry, I can't let you die," I said in a whispering voice.

"Elijah, how am I supposed to find your demon killer? I've fought worse, you know," she yelled. I unlocked the door and my tears fell. "I'm sorry," I said, crouching.

She crouched next to me and pulled my hand away from my face. "How can you feel  me?" she asked.

"I haven't told you the whole truth about me. I'm alive and dead, I'm in between. I have to finish my task. I need you to help me cross the bridge," I said. "Is that why you locked the door on me?" she asked.

I nodded. "Hey, let's make a deal," Pinkie swore," she said.
I chuckled. "Isn't that for little kids?" I asked.

She giggled. I love her laugh, so I put my pinkie up and we connected them. I felt the spark, and so did she.

"You know, when I was little, my mom always told me, if you make a pinkie promise with anyone you care about, you can't break it," she said with a smile. "So, you promise you'll come back in one piece, with no scratches?" I asked.

"I promise," she said. We smiled at each other, stared into each other's eyes, and then we kissed. I could feel her warmth, and she felt mine.

Ella Summer

By the time I woke up, I was ready to kill the demon, and I had enough holy water, salt, and magic potions. Josh called me on my phone, and I picked it up. "Hello?" I said.

"Did you see anything happen in the house?" asked Josh.
Before I could answer, I saw Elijah looking at me with worry. I sighed and started talking.

"No, I haven't found anything weird in the house. It's been perfectly normal to me," I said. He smiled and sighed in relief.

"Call me again in three weeks. If you are lying to your boss, you know what the consequences are," he said. "Yes, sir," I said. He hung up.

Elijah walked towards me. "They can't find me. I don't want to die like I said earlier," I said. I put my hand on his face. "I know, and I won't let anyone touch you or zap you," I said.

We kissed, and I walked towards the door and smiled at him.
"I'll be back before dinner," I said. He smiled, and I loved his smile. I drove to my destination near New York.

I found a car and pulled out the Ghost detector. When the lights hit red, it means it's warm, and when the lights hit green, it's cold.
When I moved into the front seat, the ghost detector became green.

The door slammed, and the handles wouldn't let me open it.
"No, No! Noooo!" I panicked and tried to open the door, but the car started moving fast towards the ocean.
I saw Elijah standing on the road. "Elijah!" I yelled.

"Let. her. Go!" Elijah yelled.
The car stopped and opened the door. I got out with shaky legs. "So, you did lie to us," the man's voice said, and I knew who that voice came from—my boss, Josh. I turned and saw him holding a zapper.
I thought you were coming in three weeks?" I yelled.

"I was, but then I thought I would check on how you were doing," he said. I turned to Elijah, ran towards him, and yelled, "Get out of here, Elijah, go!"

He disappeared, and I got zapped. I was cuffed, looked down, and cried. He took me to his office.

"Cuffs, really boss? Is that necessary?" I asked.

He slammed the table.
"You disobeyed my order. You kissed him. You knew he was there," he yelled. I looked confused.
"How did you know he was at the house or had a car accident?" I asked.

Josh's face flushed; he knows I know what he is hiding.
"Fine, I killed him, and now I get to kill him again! I want him gone because I can finally get my wish," he said.

"What do you wish for?" I asked.

"To kill Elijah, that was my wish," he said.
"You made me kill every single innocent soul to get an answer where Elijah is, so you could kill him!" I yelled.

I stood up and marched towards the door. "I need your tag," he said.
I stopped near the door, my jaw was so tense. I walked towards his desk, angry.
I took off my tag and threw it at him. "I don't need this job. I am not killing any more innocent souls," I said as I ran to my car, opened the door, turned on the car, and headed home.
