Namjoon sat alone in the small apartment he shared with Hoseok, staring at the crumpled piece of paper Jin had left him. It wasn’t just a proposal—it was a declaration of war against everything Namjoon held dear. Marry Jin and leave behind the struggle of poverty, or remain loyal to Hoseok and endure a life of hardship.

Hoseok entered the room, his face lit up with a smile that quickly faded when he saw Namjoon’s troubled expression.

“Joonie, what’s wrong?” Hoseok asked, sitting beside him and gently taking his hand.

Namjoon hesitated, his voice trembling. “It’s him again. Jin. He... He won’t stop.”

Hoseok’s jaw clenched. “What did he do this time?”

Namjoon handed him the proposal. As Hoseok read it, his hands shook with rage. “He thinks he can buy you. Like you’re some kind of object.”

“I don’t know what to do,” Namjoon whispered, tears welling up in his eyes. “He’s too powerful, Hobi. He could ruin us. Ruin you.”

Hoseok cupped Namjoon’s face, his voice soft but firm. “Listen to me. No amount of money or power can take away what we have. I won’t let him win.”

But even as he said the words, Hoseok couldn’t ignore the gnawing fear in his heart. Jin wasn’t just powerful—he was ruthless. Hoseok had heard stories of people who had crossed him, their lives destroyed with a single phone call.

The next day, Namjoon went to work at the café, trying to pretend everything was normal. But his hands trembled as he served customers, and his smile was strained. He felt Jin’s presence before he even saw him.

Jin strode into the café, his tailored suit and cold aura making the tiny shop feel even smaller. The room fell silent as everyone turned to look at the man who exuded authority and wealth.

Namjoon’s breath hitched. He wanted to run, but his legs felt like lead.

“Namjoon,” Jin said smoothly, his voice loud enough for everyone to hear. “We need to talk.”

“Please leave,” Namjoon said, his voice barely above a whisper.

Jin raised an eyebrow, a faint smirk playing on his lips. “I’m not leaving until we discuss your future.”

Before Namjoon could respond, Hoseok burst into the café, his eyes blazing with fury. He placed himself between Jin and Namjoon, glaring up at the trillionaire.

“You don’t belong here,” Hoseok said.

Jin’s smirk widened. “Ah, the boyfriend. How... quaint.” He stepped closer, his gaze flicking dismissively over Hoseok. “Do you honestly believe you can protect him from me?”

Hoseok’s fists clenched. “Namjoon doesn’t want anything to do with you. Leave him alone.”

Jin laughed, a low, menacing sound that sent chills down Namjoon’s spine. “That’s where you’re wrong. Namjoon will come to me. Not because he loves me, but because I can give him a life you never could. No more struggling to make rent. No more wondering where his next meal will come from. Just comfort, security, and a life he deserves.”

“That’s not love ,” Hoseok shot back. “That’s control

Jin’s smile vanished, his eyes narrowing. “Call it whatever you want. The fact remains: I always get what I want. And I want Namjoon.”

Namjoon finally found his voice, stepping out from behind Hoseok. “I’m not a prize to be won, Jin.”

Jin looked at him, his expression softening slightly. “No, you’re not. But you’re someone who deserves more than this.” He gestured to the café, to Hoseok, to everything that symbolized Namjoon’s current life. “Think about my offer, Namjoon. Really think about it.”

With that, he turned and left, leaving a suffocating silence in his wake.

Hoseok turned to Namjoon, his voice shaking. “You’re not actually considering it, are you?”

“I don’t know,” Namjoon admitted, his eyes filling with tears. “I hate him, but he’s right. You and I... we’re barely surviving, Hobi. And I don’t want to see you break yourself trying to take care of me.”

Hoseok pulled him into a tight embrace. “We’ll find a way, Namjoon. Together. Don’t let him take you away from me.”

But as Namjoon buried his face in Hoseok’s shoulder, his heart felt heavier than ever. Jin’s words echoed in his mind, planting seeds of doubt he couldn’t ignore.

Could he really afford to hold onto love when it came at the cost of everything else?
