The Deor hold the secret of purifying the land through their ancient way. When a human or beast passes and their spirit is released to the stars, their body is left behind. The Deor intentionally use these bodies to feed the cycle of nature and start life anew. Creating gifts yourself can be a good way to make them think again before striking in your area.
The larger the carcass, the more effective the gift.
Charity Offering
The Charity Offering is a direct gift to all beasts great and small in the surrounding area.
1. Prepare the gift.
2. Lay the gift down in a dense, wild area. Make sure it rests upon soil.
3. Split the gift down the middle, let all liquid remain drain into the soil.
4. If the gift has a facial region, leave it untouched. The starving soon-to-come may eat it if they choose to, but you are not to scratch it yourself.
5. Create a ring of fresh, healthy flower petals around the gift.
6. Speak Glory to the Deor.
7. Leave it alone for a while. Come back much later and observe how much is consumed. If decomposers (flies, worms, maggots, etc) have already seized the gift, it is theirs now, do not touch it.
8. Judging the size of your gift, the Deor may look favorably upon you.
Flower Offering
A simple offering designed to express beauty in the method the Deor love.
1. Preserve the gift for one week. Blood is too acidic to be planted early and will kill the seeds. Once said time has passed, prepare the gift.
2. Dig a small hole barely a few inches deep, may need to alter size depending on the scale of the gift. Do not dig somewhere you believe the gift will be disturbed.
3. Split the gift down the middle, let all liquid remain drain into the soil.
4. Sprinkle potting soil on the gift. The more, the better, but do not completely bury the gift in soil.
5. Place the seeds into the carcass, quantity depending on the gift's size. Marigolds, poppies, and wildflower seeds for best results.
6. Create a ring of fresh, healthy flower petals around the gift.
7. Speak Glory to the Deor.
8. Judging on the growth of the flowers in the following weeks, the Deor may look favorably on you. The flowers grown from this will be different, special even. A way of nature giving something back for your kindness.
