Journal Entry 2

The Journal Entry:

Her dreams took on a new intensity that night. She found herself in a shadowed hallway, one that she knew belonged to the old house yet was transformed, twisted into something darker. The walls felt like they were closing in, their surfaces lined with faint, ghostly handprints. She could feel the air thick with an unnatural weight as though even breathing was an invitation to something lurking unseen.

As she walked, each step echoed, amplified, as if the house itself was listening. Doors lined either side of the hallway, and though she tried to move past them, her gaze was drawn to each handle, her hand hovering near them, drawn by a magnetic pull. But she never touched them. Something inside her warned her not to. She could feel the presence behind each door, a watchful, waiting energy, something beyond human. It was as though the house was filled with invisible eyes, observing her every movement.

A mirror appeared on the wall before her, tall and thin, its surface clouded with dust and something darker. She reached out, and her fingers left trails, smudging into symbols she didn't recognize. Her face appeared faintly in the reflection, distorted, as though she were looking at someone else. Then, behind her in the mirror's depths, another figure began to take shape, almost imperceptible at first—a shadow within the shadow.

The figure grew clearer, taller, its face hidden, but she sensed it watching her, felt its gaze piercing through her even though she couldn't make out any eyes. A chill ran through her body, and she wanted to turn, to look behind her, but she found herself frozen, unable to move.

The shadow leaned forward, and just as it seemed about to touch her shoulder, she woke, gasping, heart pounding. But the sensation lingered. Even now, awake, she could still feel that gaze, like the dream had followed her into reality, as though she was no longer entirely alone in her own mind.
