The calm that followed was almost surreal. Alessia watched as paramedics rushed into their home, administering aid to Lorenzo and checking over Luciana's wound, her hands trembling as she clung to her husband and daughter. They were alive, they were together—and that, despite everything, was all that mattered.

The family had regrouped at the hospital, where doctors tended to their injuries. Luciana lay in Alessia's lap, finally asleep after hours of crying. The shallow cut on her arm was wrapped carefully, her small face peaceful in sleep, though Alessia's heart still twisted at the sight of the bandages. Lorenzo's shoulder had been treated as well, though he'd refused to stay in bed for longer than the doctors required. His fierce determination to stay by his family's side left Alessia both proud and exasperated, a familiar combination of emotions she felt only when it came to him.

Lorenzo reached over, his hand finding hers, and gave it a gentle squeeze. "I'm alright," he assured her, though Alessia knew he was as exhausted as she was. "We're all alright."

As the morning light filtered through the hospital windows, their sons entered the room, each of them bearing bruises and cuts from the night's battle. Despite their exhaustion, a powerful energy surrounded them—a fierce, protective strength they had all shared as they defended each other. Each son exchanged a look with their father, silent respect passing between them. They'd stood as one, each driven by a love so deep it had no words, only the power of action.

After hours in the hospital, they were finally cleared to go home. Alessia held Luciana close as they walked out together, the morning sun casting a warm glow over them. She felt the familiar strength of her family surrounding her, the unity that made them who they were. It was a quiet drive back, everyone lost in their own thoughts, each member of the family deeply aware of how close they had come to losing everything.

Back at the house, Alessia tucked Luciana into bed, brushing a soft kiss against her forehead as she whispered comforting words to her sleeping daughter. Afterward, she went to the living room, where Lorenzo sat surrounded by their sons. His arm was in a sling, his face marked with a fresh line of exhaustion, yet he radiated a strength that reassured her.

"Come here, love," Lorenzo said, his voice gentle as he extended his good arm. Alessia moved toward him, settling beside him as he pulled her close. For a moment, they sat in silence, comforted by the nearness of one another. Their boys gathered around, an unspoken sense of gratitude filling the room.

Nico, who had been watching his father quietly, finally spoke up. "We did it," he said, his voice rough with the intensity of his emotions. "We protected each other."

Lorenzo looked at each of his sons in turn, pride gleaming in his eyes. "We did more than that," he said softly. "We showed them that no matter what, this family stands together. And no one—no one—will ever take that from us."

Xander, still bruised and sore, grinned through the pain. "Guess it takes more than a few bullets to bring us down," he joked, his attempt to lighten the mood earning chuckles from his brothers and a fond smile from Alessia.

The rest of the day passed slowly, everyone savoring the quiet that followed the storm. Alessia took time to patch up her sons, each one wincing under her careful hands as she cleaned cuts and wrapped bruises. It reminded her of the younger days, when scraped knees and childhood scrapes had been the worst of their worries. She smiled softly, memories of her boys' younger selves surfacing in her mind.

As the evening approached, they decided to gather in the garden, the fresh air a welcome respite after the intensity of the past day. Lorenzo sat on the patio chair, Alessia beside him, with their sons seated around them. Luciana, awake again, toddled toward her father with her small hands outstretched, her bandaged arm only slightly slowing her down.
