The Return of Anubhav Singh
It was almost a week when Haseena resumed her duty after the aftermath of the undercover mission. As she stepped into her cabin, she inwardly groaned at the extent of paperwork that she'd missed over the week and her new responsibilities that were yet to be fulfilled.
She sat down relishing in the familiarity of her cabin. She went through the files, one file in particular catching her eye. She read through it, each page heavy and burdened in her hand.
Haseena closed the file, folded her hands and sighed.
She had just gone over the report. She was disappointed and frustrated. She knew that she needed to implement tough protocols or else Bulbul Pandey would never learn. Her mind echoed with the Commissioner's words that Bulbul was tarnishing the entire police department.
Haseena thought back to her days at the academy where she trained under Babita Ji. She was the force behind Haseena who modeled Haseena into the leader she now was. Perhaps that was what Bulbul needed, she thought. Mentorship....
Bulbul arrived at the same time, drawing Haseena out of her thoughts. He saluted her and stood to attention.
Haseena was contemplating how to discuss this with Bulbul when someone else came in. It was Amar. Haseena was glad to see a friendly face. He saluted her and stood in front of her.
Haseena looked at bulbul, the fire in her eyes evident. "Bulbul Ji, please wait outside for a while. Close the door on your way out", she ordered.
A momentary fire lashed out in bulbul. He was debilitating whether to rise against her or not. He knew his place and quieted himself. He saluted her and left.
What game was Haseena planning now and what was she doing with Amar? Whatever it is, it won't end well for me, Bulbul thought as he left.
Outside the hallway, Bulbul was dominated by anger and frustration. He thought back to the days when he'd undermined the authority of Haseena and the MPT members. He was revolted with female empowerment. The thought of Haseena as his senior drove him mad. He knew that if he didn't mend his ways soon, he would surely be suspended. But how could he? This was the only way he operated....
Haseena waited till the doors shut and motioned for Amar to take a seat. Amar sat down, not quite confident in his posture as usual. He kept his hands hidden, interlocking them together. He averted his gaze from Haseena and immediately corrected himself. This was his senior and not her friend. But still...
Haseena noted Amar's awkwardness yet made no comment on it. She had far important things on her mind.
"Mr. Amar" she started and Amar looked up. "I wanted to discuss something important with you."
Amar was tensed and silent. He switched back to professional mode ignoring his personal concerns. "Ji madam what is it?"
Haseena hesitated looking back and forth.
"Do you know who Bulbul Pandey is?" she asked.
"Haan madam, he is the SHO of Jaankipuram Police Station." Amar was curious as to where Haseena was heading with this.
Haseena nodded.
"Haan, so the Commissioner ordered me to look into him. His running of the station is.....well not exactly to the book and we've tried everything..."
Amar interrupted her. "Madam, where do I fit into all this?"
"Commissioner instructed me to ask for your help." She paused to pick up an envelope. She soothed it in her hands and said "You will be transferred to the JPT for a week as the SHO. It will be your responsibility to handle Bulbul."
