Jivika washed her face, taking a deep breath. She knew she had to face Yash now, and she could already feel the intensity of the conversation brewing. As she stepped out of the washroom, she noticed Yash standing near the window, staring out as if deep in thought. He turned when he heard her footsteps, his expression unreadable but with a hint of curiosity and confusion in his eyes.
Before Yash could utter a word, Jivika interrupted him. "Yash, before you say or ask anything, I want to ask you something," she said, her voice steady but filled with an underlying emotion.
Yash raised his eyebrows "What is it?" he asked, genuinely curious.
Jivika took a deep breath, gathering her courage. "This morning, you said you would help me with whatever I need as my friend, right?" she reminded him.
Yash nodded slowly, unsure of where this conversation was heading. "Yes, I did. What about it?"
Jivika looked at him, her eyes unwavering. "Then be my husband," she said simply.
Yash blinked, clearly taken aback by her request. "What do you mean, Jivika? I don't get you," he said, his voice laced with confusion.
Jivika stepped closer, her gaze fixed on his. "I want you to be my husband, Yash," she repeated, her tone more determined this time. "Just be my husband around everyone. Not just a friend or a distant partner. A real husband."
Yash furrowed his brows, trying to understand her words. "But I am being your husband, Jivika. We are married, aren't we?" he replied, as if stating the obvious.
Jivika shook her head, her expression sad yet resolute. "No, Yash. You think you are being my husband, but you maintain a distance. You keep yourself at arm's length," she explained. "Look at Vicky and Aishu, Akash and Yuvi, or even Abhinav jiju and Avanthika di. They're not just husband and wife in name. They're truly together, emotionally and physically. They share everything. And so should we, at least in the eyes of the world."
Yash looked away, a bit flustered. "But they are different, Jivika. They're in love, they have real relationships," he said, almost defensively.
"So are we, Yash," Jivika insisted, her voice raising slightly in frustration. "We're husband and wife to everyone else, and only we know the truth behind our marriage. But I don't want that to be an excuse anymore. I don't want anyone, especially people like Avni, to be able to raise a finger at our relationship."
Yash's expression shifted, his eyes narrowing slightly. "Did Avni say something to you? Or was it someone else?" he asked, a flash of concern mixed with annoyance flickering in his eyes.
Jivika shook her head, taking a step back. "That doesn't matter, Yash. What matters is that we're married, and I want us to act like it. I know it's difficult for you to be a husband to a woman like me, especially given how this marriage happened, but we both signed up for this. And now, I need you to be my husband."
There was a moment of silence between them, heavy and filled with unspoken words. Yash looked at her, searching her face for answers, but he couldn't find what he was looking for. Before he could speak, Jivika continued, her voice softer but firm.
"And as for the kiss..." she paused, taking a deep breath. "I don't regret kissing you. I'm not sorry for expressing my feelings that way. The only thing I'm sorry for is making you feel uncomfortable, for doing it without your permission. But I'm not sorry for the kiss itself, and I never will be. You were my first kiss, Yash, and no matter what, it will always be memorable for me, even if you didn't like it."
