Caramel Apple sulks on the bed in the room they shared, frowning deeply. Chip Stack walks in their shared room, and takes notice of his behaviour difference. "Caramel Apple?" he sits beside him, sharing the same expression.
"Dude, Statuette bailed on me. I-I don't think she likes me.." Caramel Apple grumbled, with a clear hint of disappointment, even sadness in his voice. It was valentine's day, he just wanted to go on a fulfilling date and to experience what it's like, no matter what he did, nothing worked, or somebody bailed. He might as well give up. Suddenly, Chip Stack peeped, "Do you want to just do something together? We can go out and eat. Take your mind off of it." He knew he was subtly asking to take over his date with Statuette, but he would never outright admit that. Never to anyone. Although, Caramel Apple didn't seem to take notice, and accepted with glee, "Yeah! Screw them stupid girls. I don't need them when i've got my pal!"
The two headed out, walking together to a random fast food restaurant together. As much as they wanted to eat, Chip Stack took the focus away from the food and offered to take him to some shops, to hopefully cheer him up.
"Oh. My. God. Dude, look at that frog plush. He is so fat and cute!!" Caramel Apple beamed as he looked at the little green frog at the other side of the glass. He wouldn't take his eyes off it, and Chip Stack felt bad they had to part ways as they headed towards the restaurant Caramel Apple booked for him and Statuette. Chip Stack so badly fought the urge to tell him she wasn't worth it, but didn't want to make him feel any worse. He deserved a day without anyone telling him "i told you so!".
Upon arrival, everyone gave them weird stares as if seeing two men sitting at a table for two in a (somewhat) fancy restaurant was a sight to see. Chip Stack would be lying if he said he didn't want to flip them all off or say something, but he didn't want to ruin Caramel Apple's day like it had been already. They look at each other the best they can, and giggle.
"This is so stupid, everyone is looking at us like we're a landmark. Why can't two bros go on a date?" Caramel Apple snickers, leaning over to whisper. The other smiles goofily, leaning back over. "They're just jealous that our relationship is better than theirs." They erupt in laughter at their stupidity, looking around at all the eyes planted on them. What else were they to do? At least Caramel Apple was happy. Or happier. After they ordered and got their food, they ate sloppily with no care in the world for how fancy this restaurant was supposed to be. Caramel Apple wanted to pig out after being bailed on, so he did. Sauces smeared on his face like a toddler, licking his lips to get it all off. Chip Stack admired his bravery like this, and almost found it cute, in a way. The way he didn't care about what others thought, the way he was comfortable and kept being himself even if he didn't fit into other peoples criteria? Admiration was the only word Chip Stack could think of, and soon enough he found himself leaning his chin on his hand, staring at his friend with red cheeks. Caramel Apple paid no attention to the staring, from Chip Stack nor anyone else.
Finally, he ate his feelings away, and groaned. "Dude, i think i ate too much.. why didn't you stop me..." The man moans and groans, leaning back in the chair he sat in. Whilst he did that, the waiter came with the bill. Ah, the bill. They forgot about that. Chip Stack very sweetly pays for the two, and they walk out. Unluckily, Caramel Apple's stomach aches, so they take a seat back in the middle of the mall. They stay there for a little longer, before Chip Stack gets up, "Wait here, gotta find the mall bathrooms," and he leaves without saying anything else.
Some time passes, and Chip Stack returns. His hands are behind his back as he looks down at Caramel Apple, which a hint of deviousness in his eyes.
"I saw you eyeing up a frog earlier, so i got you him." He reveals the ugly, little frog from behind his back and places it beside Caramel Apple with a soft expression. It's clear he cares for him, he wants nothing more than to make him happy, and Caramel Apple takes notice of that. His own expression goes from nonchalant to a smile, "You got him for me?! Thanks, man. You didn't have to." "Nah, i don't mind. You looked like you really wanted it, so i got you it. You gonna name him?" Caramel Apple thinks for a moment, before holding back a laugh, "I'm just gonna name him Brad." Such a stupid response made them both cackle a significant amount, and Chip Stack takes a seat back beside him. Recently, Chip Stack had grown fonder of Caramel Apple. The jealousy he felt when he talked about Statuette, the way he ached to be around him every waking moment of the day. He never wanted to be away from his side, and today, he made that plain to see. Meanwhile, Caramel Apple was thankful for Chip Stack stepping in. He should have planned valentine's day with him instead, no matter what girl, or boy he asked out, nobody would've made him happier than Chip Stack did. The fuzzy feeling he felt inside him was no joke. The way he felt his eyes on him the entire dinner made him uneasy, but he liked it. So, he takes a chance and rests on Chip Stack, his frog, Brad, on his lap.
"I'd be lying if i said i didn't have a better time with you than i would've had with anyone else; thanks for taking me out, Chip Stack." Caramel Apple whispered, kicking his feet. Chip Stack burned in the face, feeling Caramel Apple's weight on his side felt like so much more than it was. He didn't know what to say, nor do. For once, they sat in comfortable silence, their body weight on each others so much so they were balanced.
At this point, Chip Stack wanted to just tell Caramel Apple how he felt. To tell him how much he wants to be in place for the people he tries to get with, to kiss him and tell him sweet nothings. He felt so embarrassed, this is his best friend. Is it normal to fall for your best friend? Would Caramel Apple get mad? Not reciprocate? God! This whole ordeal drove him crazy.. but then again, why would Caramel Apple lean on him and rub against his arm, if not to be hinting towards something other than the feeling of friendship? Should he do it and risk it all? No, maybe later.
The two walked to the hotel together in a mutual silence, the sky getting darker. They sit together in their room, looking back at the day they had. It went well, surprisingly. Usually Caramel Apple sulks forever, but he just felt genuinely happy to be with his best friend for a day. Now, Chip Stack spoke. First, he took off the top chip of his stack, the one he had his face on, and he held it to look at Caramel Apple, so he was clear.
"Caramel Apple, i had such a good day with you, but not in the way i thought at first. It felt like a date, even if it was supposed to be a friend-date, i kept thinking of it as romantic and.. i liked it." He began, embarrassed. Caramel Apple stared with shock, words unable to escape his mouth, but he listened. "It's so stupid, but i didn't want it to end. I'm somewhat glad Statuette bailed so i could have her day instead. I-I even think about kissing you? Dude, you drive me crazy." And he ended it there, but he kept his face held in his hands. Caramel Apple admitted once more that he had a good day, and would've rather been with Chip Stack anyway, and they sit together in silence. Caramel Apple was red by this point, and Chip Stack reciprocated with slightly pink cheeks. Finally, Caramel Apple stands up and walks over to Chip Stack, pecking him on the lips before walk-running to his bed. He jumps in and faces away.
"Goodnight!!!!"
