War I faced for 10 long years in Troy,
An ocean away from my homeland,
An ocean away from my son and wife,
We've traveled far for food to eat once the war was won
"A cave, east" is where the lotus eaters said we would find food to feed the entire fleet
I drew my bow and arrow and shot the first sheep
A voice roared throughout the cave
"Who are you?"
"My mother gave me a strange name, for I am Nobody" is what I told the cyclops, Polyphemus
"We are travelers, we mean no harm"
"You killed my sheep... my favorite sheep... What gives you the right to deal a pain so deep?"
An enemy we now face,
"How about a deal? A trade you see, a gift from you, and a gift from me"
Polyphemus stared
I handed the cyclops a large skin, he took it
He took a swig of the wine, he had not saw that I had spiked it with lotus, a plant that controls your mind and never sets you free
An enemy we still face,
He raised his club,
He swung,
My men...
Their screams and yells echoed throughout the cave of the cyclops
The remaining men in the cave attacked, following my commands
The one-eyed giant soon fell, limp, at peace
Eurylochus, my second in command approached, "Captain, where do we attack him?"
"Sharpen his club, we have to stab him in the eye!"
We sharpened his club, we drove it into his eye
He had awoken with a screech,
My men and I hid behind rocks, staying silent to not draw attention,
We soon ran back to our fleet, taking the sheep and mourning our fallen brothers
I stood at the mast of my ship as the cyclops started to leave his cave, eye dripping with blood
"Cyclops! You asked for my name, I am not Nobody! For, I am the reigning king of Ithaca, I am the infamous Odysseus!"
