“Azrael,” I waved him over, “We need to talk.”
Azrael sighed, leaving the side of the bed where the girl, Saija, was sleeping. We both stepped outside of the room and I closed the door behind me.

“What do you want?” he huffed in annoyance, I couldn’t help but show a teasing smile.

“You seem so upset that I took you away from your new friend. I hope my little brother isn't too upset with me.” I nudged his shoulder.

“Shut Up! No one asked you for help or anything.” Suddenly it became quiet, Azrael looked at me, “What?”

“It's Zemira , she knows about the secret.”

“Which one? We've got enough to fill a closet.”
I take a deep breath bracing myself for the outburst I knew was coming, “She knows I'm adopted.”

“You idiot! Dad told us to keep it a secret from all the other students. What the hell were you thinking? If he finds out, it’s the end of us. I hope you're prepared for it in the future.”

“The principal let it slip when we were going to get their uniforms, Vermilion knows as well.”

“I’m going to go murder the principal first, then you! First it was Zemira and next you tell me it’s also Vermillion. Shit!”

“How's any of this my fault?!”

“It’s your fault, because you took that girl with you! You should have ordered Vermillion to get out of the room first!”

“Damnit Azrael, do you think I planned for this shit to happen?!”

“I don’t care if you planned it or not, but if anyone finds out all the other bullshit stuff we did, they won’t be looking us in the eye. They’ll end up hiding from our presence. You know that very well, Lucian”

“Oh please! They do that anyway, do you think I care?!”

“Do you not care what Zemira  thinks? I saw the look on their faces, they were the only ones who looked us in the eyes and talked to us. But at that moment all they saw in us were monsters. Because of what had happened, even Saija had told me to never show my face again. Do you not care what they think?!”

“...” I paused, “They saw us as monsters because that's what we are. Do you know any other normal person that would willingly decapitate their friend?”

“I don’t, but maybe you don’t either. You also don’t know that right now at this moment they want to keep sharing their smiles with us in the future. You may think that you know what everyone thinks, but not everyone wants to end up like a monster. Normally people would have killed themselves by now. But we were made into monsters, Lucian. There’s a big difference between us and them. But I at least don’t want to die as a monster in their eyes. And I know neither do you.”

“I’ll have a talk with Vermillion, make sure he doesn't tell anyone.”

“Nothing ever stays quiet, you know that perfectly well. It most likely already has spread around like wildfire.”

“Vermillion isn't stupid and neither is his father, if that man is as scared as he looksed we won't have a problem.”

“I don’t care what you do. But make things right. If any of our secrets come up on the surface. If anything harms them. I will never forgive you. Do you understand me?”
I let out an aggravated laugh and rolled my eyes

“Did you check out the runes around the campus?”

“Yeah, but you have tomorrow’s shift. I covered for you more than enough.”
I walked away making my way to a door that said faculty, I knocked on the door and heard a voice ring from inside, “You may enter.” I stepped in, shutting the door behind me, the room was a plain white color with several green plants throughout the room with a singular black vase holding within it, a withered white lily. I looked to my right to see a woman sitting on a beige futon reading a book.

“Oh Lucian, hello my son, was there something you needed?”
I sighed once again bracing for another tongue thrashing, “The new recruit you assigned me to knows I'm adopted”
My father took off his mask to reveal his Green eyes shrouded in disappointment,

“How could you let this happen?” He said lowly.

“She knows more than she should. You'll have to get rid of her.”

My eyes widened, “Don't punish her for a mistake that I made, please.”

My mother glanced up from her book and asked, “How does she know anyhow?”

“I'd taken her to the principal's office because her and her sister hadn't gotten their uniforms and he'd let it slip, his son was in the room as well…” I responded

“I very well told you and your brother to not let anyone know. ” said my father

“It wasn't my intention for her to find out.” I bit back a smart remark that seemed to be on the tip of my tongue.

“All I'm asking is that she isn’t punished, since we all agree that this is my fault she has nothing to do with it.”

My mother hesitated before speaking, “Have you confronted the principal about this? In my opinion, Elijah, he is getting too comfortable with his position.”

“Very well, talk to him and his son, but if this gets out—”

“It won't.” I said simply

“If this gets out,” he continued, “this will be on you and you'll be punished accordingly.”
I left without another word and headed to Vermillion’s dorm room, walking until I reached my destination. I knocked on the door and waited until he opened it.

“Is there something wrong?” He asked, his face was neutral but his eyes held a challenging and resentful glare.

“Yes, actually. May I come in?” I smiled indifferently as he stepped aside to invite me in. I stood against the wall and he stood on the opposite side of the room, “I'm sure you know why I'm here. The Patriarch—”

“Your dad.”

“My boss sent me here to make sure you keep quiet. Can you do that?” I asked.
“I don't know…I might just let it slip, by accident of course.” He smirked and I scoffed as a blue aura began to surround the room.

“Vee, what are you doing?”

“C'mon Lucian, you're gonna kill me like you did with Rico?”

“Is that what this is about? You know I had no choice.”

“That's because you're your father's lap dog!” He said angrily the pressure of his aura began to increase but it hardly affected me, it was simply annoying.

“We were all friends, you, me, Rico, and Azrael and you two killed him in cold blood.”

“Vermillion, you should sit down,” I said warningly. “You'll get hurt.” He wouldn't listen.

“You aren't as strong as you think you are Lucian…”
I smiled as a purple glow replaced the blue one. Terror had been all over his face taking the place of the arrogant rage just moments before.

“You should know your opponent before challenging them”

“What the hell! What’d you do?!” He said as he fell to the ground, I crouched in front of him

“Maybe you’re right, I might not be as strong as I put off, but I’m damn sure stronger than you.” I stood up and began to leave before he stopped me.

“What about Azrael? Does he know about your little secret?”

“No,” I lied, “He doesn’t know, and for your safety I suggest you don’t bring it up to him, relay everything I said to your father. Understood?”

“...”

“I’ll take that as a yes.”
