CHERRY WINCED AT THE VIDEO!
The computer loaded up a video. A meme of Kenny after his bathroom incident in the forest with the Miyagi-do students was being displayed to Amanda.
"Liftoff. That's one small..." A fart noise interrupted the electronic voice. "For man, one giant..." Again, the stupid fart noise. "...for mankind."
Anthony laughed, and then noticed his mother's glare. "Sorry. Sorry. But come on, that's- that's objectively funny. I haven't seen this one. This-"
"You should be ashamed. I'm ashamed I have a son that's capable of that kind of bullying." Amanda shook her head, watching her son shift under her gaze.
"You think I did this?"
"You've done nothing but mess with him since he's moved here."
"This wasn't me."
"It is hard enough being a new kid. Plus, his dad is overseas, his mom works nights, and he's gotta deal with kids being assholes?"
"He's been just as much of a jerk to me."
"We are not keeping score, Anthony. This beef ends today. We need to get Kenny on a plane. The only way that's gonna happen is if you apologize."
"No. No way. No, I'm not apologizing for something I didn't even do, Mom!"
"I am not asking. Get in the car."
Cherry watched uncomfortably as Amanda shoved the front door open. Anthony frowned, watching it slam shut.
The red-haired girl matched his expression. She wanted to defend him, but what could she have even said? It wasn't like she was just gonna yell at his mom.
Did everyone think it was Anthony who'd dosed Kenny's drink?
It made sense, sure, but Cherry knew it wasn't him. Kenny had nobody else to pinpoint except his best friend's boyfriend.
He refused to get over it, and he refused to go back to Miyagi-do. Not that Cherry blamed him, but she missed him. A lot.
He was pushing everyone away again, and it was taking everything inside of him to not push her away, too.
