Blackbird Coffee was Aurora's favorite escape. The smell of espresso and cinnamon rolls was like therapy, and the cozy mismatched furniture made her feel at home in a way Wanda's house never did.
She ordered her usual—a caramel latte—and headed to her favorite corner table. But today, it was occupied.
By him.
He had dark hair that fell into his eyes and a leather jacket slung over the back of his chair. His long legs stretched out as he leaned over a book, completely at ease.
Aurora hesitated. She didn't want to stare, but something about him caught her off guard.
"Are you going to stand there, or do you want your seat back?" he asked without looking up. His voice was warm, teasing.
Aurora blinked. "What?"
He looked up then, a lopsided grin spreading across his face. "I'm kidding. Sit if you want."
"I... uh... I'll find another table," she stammered, heat rising to her cheeks.
As she turned to leave, he closed his book and stood. "Relax, Princess. I'm Finn."
"Don't call me Princess," she snapped, surprising herself.
"Noted." Finn smirked, grabbing his coffee. "Catch you later, Aurora."
She froze. How did he know her name?
It wasn't until he walked out the door that she realized she was still holding her latte, her heart racing for reasons she didn't understand.
