I'd just been to school with John B to see Mr Sunn, to get his help translating the letter that my brother and Sarah found at Chapel Hill.

It was in Gullah and thankfully our history teacher could translate it easily, especially the ending of the letter which told us where the gold was hidden.

John B walked back to the Chateau whilst I rushed off to help out at the country club, where they were setting up for the Midsummers party.

Sure, I have to take a bath in the marsh but kooks can have unlimited champagne and hors d'oeuvres until their fingers fall off.

I only had to work before the party, thank god. I didn't want to deal with all the snobby kooks in one place, no way.

I arrived to see Pope helping his dad unload the truck full of food, "Pope!" I shouted to get his attention as I jogged over to him.

"Have you seen JJ? I still haven't heard from him but I saw his dad's truck outside of his house." I said but he shook his head.

"No I haven't, and I feel sick to my stomach, Cherry. Physically sick." He said.

"He did it because he cares about you Pope, you know how JJ is. The boy never thinks." I gave him a quick hug before hurrying inside to help set up.

I laid the fancy tables with the extremely fancy table cloths, and helped set up the outdoor gazebo with the strings of lights.

Everywhere looked immaculate, and expensive.

"Hey, Sarah! What are you doing here now?" I shouted her as I saw her coming out of the main entrance.

"Cherry! Oh, I was just dropping something off for Rose. What you doing here?" She came over to hug me.

"Pogues are only good for helping set up apparently." I curtsied as a joke.

"You're not coming at all? I really needed to... talk to you about something." She looked kind of nervous.

"I can meet you after, if you want."

She shook her head before her face lit up, "You can be my plus one! I'm definitely not going with Topper. We'll get you a pretty dress and you'll come with us!" I froze as she started to get excited.

"I-I can't go to midsummers Sarah! I'm pretty sure they won't even let me in." I scoffed as she pulled on my arm.

"They will if you're with the Camerons." She smirked and I rolled my eyes.
