Head down, lost in her thoughts, Lucy walked, trying to figure out what would be her next step in life. Looking at her phone, she decided that now was the time to call Ryan and explain to her what happened. Knowing those low-lives who worked in the store, she probably already knew. Those cashier hoes didn't never mind their own business. Before she told her sister that she didn't have a job, she had to land replacement income.

" Ay!" She heard yelling from a passing car. Had she not known Jah's voice, she would have turned around and cursed him for thinking he could yell at her like that. Instead, she continued to walk, hoping that he would go away.

"You just keep walking like you can't hear me?" Jah yelled, slowing his car down to match her walking pace. Traffic trailed behind him obediently as he took his time.

"What do you want ?" Lucy turned annoyed with him

"You need a ride.

"Hell no!" Lucy spat, speeding up her walk away from him. Satisfied when he drove away.

Getting lost back into her thoughts she walked a little further quickly finding the thoughts about her life that she had been pondering earlier.

"You hot?" She heard that same pestering voice yell doubling back around.

"No"

"Let me take you wherever you're going. You know I'm' not going to leave you alone till you get your ass in the car."

Sending him a sharp side-eye Lucy stomped over to the car getting in and buckling up.

"How was your day?" Jah asked her as if it was a regular day.

"I got fired."

"Fired? You've only been working a lil while?"

" Well, it happened !" Lucy stated firmly attempting to shut down the conversation. She wasn't in the mood for Jah's in-depth interrogations. She used to tell them that instead of being a drug dealer he should have been a detective. Jah took nothing anyone told him at face value; he believed that everything had some sort of motive behind it.

"Are you lying to me now?"

"You lied to me before!"

"You like a dog with a bone, Lou. You ain't never going to let that shit be you?" He asked her knowing the answer before she even told him. Lucy had always had an unforgiving nature and could hold on to the simplest things.

"Not any time soon."

"Five years and you're still petty?"

"I guess so," Lucy mumbled to herself looking out the window. Every part of her city had changed, the streets were familiar but not the same.

"So where am I taking you?" Jah spoke to break the silence. He wanted to hear the melodious sound of her voice.

"Huh?"

"Where ... Are...You...Going!" He repeated himself.

Lucy bit her tongue not wanting to deal with his reaction to where she had decided to go. She needed a job as well as she needed money and lots of it. There was only one legal way she could think about getting it.

" Chloe's job."

"Chloe got a new job?" He asked wondering if his hearing was clear.

" I Don't think so."
Jah chuckled at her response because five years ago she would have never even breathed that she was considering something like this to him.

" They're not going to hire you." He laughed to himself, keeping his eyes on the road.

" Why do you say that ?"
