Lucy looked at herself in the small bathroom mirror. For the first time in years, she was able to shower with hot water and alone. She reveled in the silence that surrounded her knowing that it would be something she would be able to get used to. Tears welled in her eyes as she thought about all she had survived to get to this moment of freedom. Dropping to her knees she bowed her head in prayer. In the years she had been locked up her faith had become her saving grace.

"God, I thank you for giving me another chance to live again. I want to be a better person. I ask that you put me in a better place than. Teach me how to avoid the pitfalls I fell into before and keep the demons from my past at bay. Amen." She spoke as a tear sled from her eye onto the cracked linoleum.

"LOU!" Ryan yelled through the door distracting her from her moment of reflection.

"Yeah."

"Your probation officer is on the phone."

Opening the door Lucy cracked the door open and stuck her arm out taking the phone.

"Hello, this is Lucy."

"Ms. Silva this is Officer Ward I have been assigned as your probation officer. You are expected to come on Monday morning. I understand that you are happy to be back home but remember you will be drug tested when you get there. One failed drug test and you will be violated." The officer who sounded like a middle-aged white man said into the phone. The part of Lucy that didn't like following the rules bulked at the thought of someone dictating her life she wanted her freedom completely.

"I'll be there." She answered dryly rushing him off the phone. Walking back into the living room she handed her sister the cellular phone back. The flat rectangle was way higher tech than the flip picture phone she'd had before she got locked up. Getting a phone of her own would have to be on the list of things for her to do right behind getting a job.

"The man didn't even give me 24 hours before they are putting me back in chains "Lucy groaned as she rummaged through the Victoria's Secret bags for underwear she rubbed down in her favorite OilznButterz cocoa butter and sprayed on the Jimmy Choo Illicit perfume.
