As we were about to turn back, disaster struck. Our car crashed into another, sending my world into chaos.

My dad, thank goodness, was wearing his seatbelt and suffered only mild injuries.

But I hadn't been so lucky. I had forgotten to buckle up, and now I was paying the price. Serious brain injuries and internal bleeding threatened my life, and all I could do was whisper one name "Dustin!"

The doctors at the hospital asked who Dustin was, and my dad quickly explained the situation. "We need him here, now," one of them urged.

My dad placed the call, his voice shaking with worry. "Dustin, it's an emergency. Britney's been in an accident. The doctors need you here, ASAP. I'll send you the location right now"

Dustin rushed to the hospital, his face etched with concern. "Hey, gorgeous, I'm here. You don't have to stress," he said, taking my hand in his.

Through blurry vision, I recognized his voice. "Dustin...is that...is that you?" I whispered, coughing up blood.

"Shhh, slowly, love. It's me. I'm right here. I'm not going anywhere," he replied, his grip on my hand tightening.

"I...I...I read..." I struggled to speak, coughing up more blood. "I read your letter."

"I know you did, love. Your dad told me everything," Dustin said, his eyes brimming with tears.

"I just...want to...let you know..." I continued, my voice barely above a whisper. "I love you too...and I haven't been myself since the breakup. I'm sorry for not hearing you out all these while."

Tears streamed down Dustin's face as he kissed my cheek. "Just in case I don't survive this..." I whispered, my voice fading.

"Don't say that, no one's dying," Dustin cut in, his voice trembling.

"I believe you'll get better in no time, and we can start all over again," he said, his eyes welling up with tears.

My dad watched from the corner, tears streaming down his face as he watched his baby suffer.

The doctors interrupted, their voices firm but gentle. "Mr Dustin, we need you to step out at the moment so we can examine the patient. Looks like it's gonna be an immediate surgery."

Dustin's face contorted in anguish, but he nodded. "I'll be right outside, love. You're going to be okay." He said.

As he released my hand, I felt a pang of desperation. Would I ever get to show him how much I love him? Would I ever get to start anew?
