Liam woke up and checked the time, he was surprised to see it was pretty late. He quickly got out of bed and went downstairs. In the kitchen, he found Mason cooking breakfast.
Mason smiled and said good morning, they started talking while they ate. They joked about funny things and shared their plans for the day. It felt nice to spend time together, and Liam enjoyed the breakfast Mason made. After they finished eating, Liam felt a little lighter but still had a lot on his mind as he got ready to head home.
He walked home, feeling a mix of relief and unease as he noticed that nobody was around when he arrived. He went upstairs to his room and flopped onto his bed, sinking into the comfort of his blankets. For once, his mind felt empty, and all he could hear was the steady rhythm of his breathing and the distant sounds of cars passing by outside.
After a few minutes of silence, he suddenly became aware of another heartbeat nearby. It broke through the calm, and he sat up quickly, his heart racing as he realized that the sound was getting closer to his front door. The heartbeat was fast and frantic, echoing his growing anxiety. Liam's mind raced with possibilities. What if the hunters had tracked him down and were about to storm his house?
That familiar feeling of dread washed over him, and he felt the adrenaline kick in. He got up from his bed, determination mixed with fear as he headed downstairs, preparing himself for whatever might come.
Liam approached his front door and paused right in front of it, preparing himself for the worst. He expected gunshots and bullets, but instead, there was only the sound of heavy breathing and the strong smell of blood. Confused, he stepped back, unsure whether to open the door or not.
As he stood there, he heard a knock. He opened the door to find Theo, hands pressed against his ribs, his shirt soaked in blood, and his face pale. Concerned, Liam asked, "W-What happened?"
Theo, still gasping for air, replied, "I got attacked in the woods last night. It was the hunters."
Liam furrowed his brows and said, "Why didn't you come back to Mason's house yesterday? We could've helped you."
Theo stammered, "I-I didn't know what to do after what happened, so I just hid in the woods. But now—"
Before he could finish, Liam interrupted, "Now you need help. Come on!" He took hold of Theo, ready to assist him in this dire moment.
Liam carefully helped Theo inside, closing the door behind them to block out the cold air. He guided Theo to the living room, where the dim light flickered from a lamp in the corner. Liam quickly grabbed a first aid kit from the shelf and returned to Theo, who had collapsed onto the couch, wincing in pain.
"Don't move. I need to see how bad it is," Liam said, trying to keep his voice steady. He gently lifted Theo's shirt, revealing a deep gash across his side. Blood oozed from the wound, and Liam felt a surge of panic. "Whoa, this looks serious. We need to clean it up."
Theo nodded weakly and furrowed his brows,"After i heal, i'll come back and kill them one by one."
"You should have come back to Mason's," Liam replied, his tone firm but filled with concern. "Now, let's fix this." He poured antiseptic onto a clean cloth and pressed it against the wound, causing Theo to flinch.
"Sorry, I know it hurts," Liam said, his heart racing as he worked. "But we have to stop the bleeding." He wrapped the bandage tightly around Theo's torso, trying to stabilize him. As he finished, he glanced up at Theo, who was pale but seemed to be regaining some strength.
"Thank you," Theo whispered, his voice shaky.
"You should have trusted us," Liam said, a hint of frustration creeping into his voice. He paused as he realized, "Mason will kill me. He really thinks you're a threat."
