Chapter 6

Y/n slowly rose from her bed in the middle of the night, thing was swinging his fingers on the bed frame as she got off the bed without so much as a creek.

"Which way was the greenhouse, thing" Y/n spoke quietly but with authority as thing crawled across the ground leading her down a staircase.
She followed quickly, her cloak swishing behind her.

The castle was silent, it was way past curfew and if caught it would result in punishment from the house warden, vil schoenheit. A potions master and a pretty face with over 5 million followers on some app that she had never even heard of.

What she could deduce from her short time of observing him, schoenheit was a very jealous guy and was most definitely the secret love child of the evil queen who poisoned Snow White. So it was safe to say he had the same problems and personality as the evil queen. She would definitely be avoiding him and his vice warden who both gave her freaky vibes. Rook had turned to stare her dead in the face while schoenheit was advertising his skin care and with a sly smile gestured to her hood.

Y/n pretended that she couldn't see him even though the message was clear.

Thing tapped the ground and pointed left as she opened the door of the castle and turned in the direction thing pointed. Just as she got to the greenhouse hidden in the trees an arrow was shot at Thing. He managed to dodge in time and Y/n quickly scooped him up.

Her eyes narrowed.
"It seems we have been caught"

her eyes darted to a tree which rustled. 'It was on purpose' she noted. He wanted her to notice him.
"Regarde qui voilà... madame chatte Noire."

She stared up at the figure, Thing sat on her shoulder covered by her hair.
Y/n crossed her arms. 'look who it is... madame black cat' she translated his words
"Black cat?" She drew out her words with an unimpressed stare.

"Oui, your gaze alone gives me shivers madame chatte noire" he slunk down from the tree and leaned beside the greenhouse.
"Madame chatte noire and her... familiar" he added.

Thing pounced.
He grabbed at Rook Hunt, punched and pinched while the man in question struggled to rid himself of the hand.
"Madame..!" He grunted, his plastered smile wavering. "Merde!" He angrily whispered.

"That is thing." She watched with dark amusement
"He hates being called a pet" she added on as Rook struggled to throw off the hand.

"That's enough thing" she spoke after a while of watching the two struggle, she beckoned him over to her shoulder while she turned away from Rook and picked the lock of the greenhouse.

"Madame chatte noire-" rook called after the two.
"It's Y/n Addams" she cut him off and entered the greenhouse, closing the door behind her.

Rook just took out a key and opened the greenhouse door, following close behind her.
"Right Miss Addams, what a surprise it was to find you here after curfew" he chuckled as they walked past a poisonous and porous plant.
She glanced around trying to identify the plants.

"You're going to get me in trouble?" She rose a brow on her stoic face, questioning him.
"Non, madame chatte noire. However i must tag along for such an adventure"

She side eyed him before turning back to the plants.
"Laurel berries" she noticed slightly to the side the familiar reddish purple berries which grew to the size of grapes on the large plant.

"Oh? Oui, mademoiselle is correct" rook leaned over her shoulder.
Y/n's brow twitched as she moved away before looking over some more plants.

"These are all herbs for potion making" she stated as she listed the different plants to herself. "Duskweed, dawnweed, thundertree, ground cherries..."

Rook stood to the side intensely watching Y/n's face and expressions, not that she had many expressions to begin with.
He smiled as he got off the tree he was leaning on and placed his hands on her shoulders which she quickly shrugged off with a scowl.

"Perhaps the mademoiselle would like to take a look at some of the more... cachée plants?"

"Hidden?" She questioned as thing snipped some plants while Rook had his attention on her.
