CHAPTER 9
Cat and Dog Fights

Hae-in was wearing a fitted sheath shirt in a champagne satin that clung to every undulation of his fabulous figure and set off his dark locks. His fit pants elongated his already long legs; his eyes elevating to the same level as Taehyung's lips. He was taking full advantage of that fact, standing in between Taehyung and his grandfather, smiling seductively at something Taehyung was saying and studying his lips closely from beneath his half-closed eyes. Mr. Choi was watching him with a proud smile on his face.

Jin suddenly felt angry.

He's mine.

He closed the door a little more forcefully than necessary and walked confidently across the room, a self-assured smile plastered on his face.

Whatever else you do, Seokjin, don't trip and don't stumble.

Taehyung's face broke into a sexy grin and he moved instinctively in his direction as soon as he saw him. As Jin closed the distance between them, his self-confidence was bolstered even further by Taehyung's totally indecent scorching gaze sliding down the length of his body.

Mr. Choi's expression changed to one of confusion and surprise. Hae-in was clearly much more accustomed to masking his emotions. The merest flicker of annoyance crossed his lovely face before his smile returned, wider and even more insincere than before.

Okay. I'm ready to play.

"Mr. Choi, Hae-in-ssi, may I introduce my boyfriend, Kim Seokjin. Seokjin, this is Mr. Choi and his grandson, Hae-in," Taehyung said with a smile as he snaked an arm around his waist and pulled him close to his side.

"Pleased to meet you, Mr. Choi, Hae-in," Jin purred, tilting his head towards Taehyung. Right on cue, Taehyung dropped a soft kiss on the top of Jin's head and pulled him even closer against him. It was all the reassurance Jin needed to mount his attack.

"Hae-in, Tae tells me I owe you a debt of gratitude for standing in as his date last night." Jin stopped briefly and checked Taehyung's reaction before continuing. Amusement was dancing around his eyes and there was the trace of a smile on his lips. He decided to press on. "I am so terribly shy and loathe all the attention that goes with being out in public with Taehyung. But if he attends a function solo, he attracts all sorts of unwanted attention, don't you, baby?"

Taehyung nodded his assent with a wry smile and a quirked eyebrow, circling his shoulder with his hand possessively. He was playing along. With some satisfaction, Jin noted Hae-in's smile was beginning to look decidedly shaky.

Jin leaned towards him and lowered his voice to a more conspiratorial tone, "He absolutely cannot abide predatory females," he gave him a sideways look, "and frankly, males too, circling around him at these events. But when he has a date with him, the vultures circle a little further out and he is spared the embarrassment of having to let them down. So, thank you. I trust you had an enjoyable evening?"

Jin finished with a friendly smile.

Game on.

Hae-in hesitated for a beat, his lips still smiling but his eyes shining with fury. Clearly riled but desperate not to show it, his face screwed up awkwardly into something between a smile and a grimace. He really didn't look quite so pretty anymore.

"Oh, Taehyung and I had a wonderful evening. Such a pity you missed all the fun, Seokjin."

Jin was momentarily knocked off course by his subtle dig, but he managed not to give him the satisfaction of rising to his deliberate provocation.
