Running.

Ceaseless running.

That's all they had been doing for the past three days and nights. The sky above them grew darker and the moon took its place in the center before the sun rose again, engulfing everything in its light. It was a constant circle. At some point, time became irrelevant.

The four hunters run across plains and rocks nonstop, without a single break. Eliriel kept her pace steady, taking in deep breaths in order to keep going. She would not rest until Merry and Pippin were found.

How could she when they got taken away under her watch?

She tried not to think of what could be happening to them right now and focused on the task at hand. Finding them, alive.

She run just behind Aragorn, with Legolas and Gimli following closely behind. She could only hear the steady sound of her breaths and heartbeat as she used her guilt to push herself forward with more speed.

At some point, Aragorn came to a halt. The elleth used this moment to catch her breath and so did her other two companions. They were in the middle of nowhere, green plains stretching so far as the eye could see.

The man kneeled down on the rocky terrain. He put his head on the rock, pressing his ear against it and listened.

"Their pace has quickened." Aragorn whispered. "They must have caught our sent. Hurry!" He got up and urged the rest of them to move on.

Eliriel did not need to be told a second time as she immediately went after the Ranger again, continuing their pursuit of the Uruks. Legolas was only a few meters behind her.

"Come on Gimli!" She urged the dwarf who was trying to keep up with them.

Gimli took a deep breath. "Three days and nights pursuit. No food, no rest. And no sign of our quarry but what bare rock can tell." He complained before sprinting to catch up.

Their hunt continued as they run, passing by rocks, mountains, rivers and trees with great haste. Now that the Uruk pack has picked up their smell, they had to be faster than ever.

Time was of the essence.

Merry's and Pippin's lives were at stake.

Suddenly Aragorn bent down and picked up something from the ground. It was a green leaf brooch, the one they all got in Lothlórien.

"Not idly do the leaves of Lórien fall." Aragorn stated, examining the brooch in his hand.

Eliriel approached him. A small sense of hope filled her heart. "They may yet be alive."
