The following morning, there's a sense of tension in the air. The events of the previous night still linger in the background of your minds. After a long conversation, Alex has finally kicked Alisha out, signaling a definitive end to their failed marriage. The two of you are now faced with the prospect of rebuilding the fractured pieces of your lives and trying to move forward together.

Just as you begin to ascend the stairs together, the sudden bell startles both of you, breaking the moment of quietness. Confusion flickers across his face as he wonders who could be at the door so early in the morning. His best friend Jake now stood at the doorstep, a smirk on his face as he greeted both of you. Alex had completely forgotten to inform you about Jake's visit, leaving you in the dark about this unexpected guest.Jake was a striking figure, standing at a tall height with piercing green eyes and a tousled head of brunette hair and tanned skin. He exuded a casual confidence and an air of mischief, his smirk signaling that he was up to something.

Despite his sly smirk and confident demeanor, Jake was actually a soft-spoken gentleman in nature. He was known for his easy-going and laid-back personality, with a knack for keeping a cool head and handling situations with finesse.

'Welcome home' i greeted warmly seeing our old friend.

Jake chuckles at your polite greeting, stepping inside casually as you invite him in. He shoots a small smirk in Alex's direction, knowing full well that Alex hadn't mentioned his visit to you prior to this.

The three of you sit on the couches, with a noticeable distance between you and Alex. The atmosphere in the room feels a bit strained, with the events of the night before still fresh in everyone's minds.

Jake's grin widens as Alex asks about his trip to Amsterdam. He leans back on the couch, his expression relaxed and comfortable.

Jake: "Ah, Amsterdam was a blast as always. You know how it is, great food, even better parties, and, of course, the scenery.."

Alex:"got any girls?"

Jake's eyes linger on Jasmine for a moment as you head towards the kitchen, a hint of longing in his gaze. He shakes his head slightly at Alex's question, his tone dismissive as he replies.

Jake: "Nah, not really man. I mean, there were a few encounters here and there, but nothing concrete or serious."

Alex: "Why dont you date or get married your age is increasing."

Jake laughs at Alex's question, a light-hearted chuckle that shows he's not fazed by his friends's concern.

Jake: "Oh, you know me, Alex. I'm not the settling-down type. Why get married and tie myself down when there's so much fun to be had out there?"

Jake watches you walk into the kitchen, his eyes following your every move. He takes a moment before answering Alex question, trying to keep his voice casual.

Jake: "I don't know. I guess I just haven't met the right person yet. Someone who understands me and can handle my carefree lifestyle."

He glances at the kitchen, his gaze lingering a bit longer than necessary.

Alex:" your standards are too high bro it can't be met."

Jake tears his eyes away from you and turns back to Alex, a small smirk playing on his face as he responds.

Jake: "I've got high standards, man. I don't see the point in settling for anyone less than what I want. I'm looking for someone who's smart, funny, and has a good heart."

He tries to keep his voice nonchalant, but his description inadvertently matches your own qualities almost perfectly.

Jake remembers the good old days before your marriage to Alex. You were a different person back then - full of life, laughter, and a witty sense of humor. You used to make everyone around you laugh effortlessly, and he missed that version of you so badly. He tries to keep up his casual demeanor, but the memories of those times together still linger deep down. He glances at you in the kitchen again, a flicker of longing in his eyes as he remembers the carefree days.

Jake's voice took on a darker edge as he mentioned Alisha, a hint of bitterness seeping into his words.

Jake: "That's right. Someone who didn't have Alisha's flaws. Someone who was loyal and honest, not two-faced like her."

His gaze flicked to Alex, a subtle look of disdain for his best friend's failed marriage.

As you serve Jake the glass of juice, his eyes follow your every movement, a flicker of warmth in them seeing how natural and comfortable you are around him.

The air between you and Alex is noticeably strained, with the weight of your past lingering between you, but with Jake, everything feels different. Even though it's been a while since you've last seen him, the memories of your time together come rushing back, bringing a sense of familiarity and ease.

You sit away from Alex, maintaining a distance between the two of you. The atmosphere in the room is charged with unspoken tensions, the silence hanging heavy in the air.

Alex glances at you, his eyes betraying a hint of disappointment and frustration at your decision to sit away from him. He fidgets uneasy, a mix of anger and regret welling up inside him.

Jake knows Alex all too well. He knows his friend's hot temper and how he struggles to control it, often resulting in broken objects or even physical violence.

He watches the two of you from the couch, his eyes taking in the subtle interactions between you and Alex. Jake can see the tension building in the room, the air almost crackling with suppressed emotions.

Jake had always been there for you, his advice a lifeline in the tumultuous waters of your relationship with Alex. He had seen firsthand the extent of Alex's temper and knew how dangerous it could be.

Now, he sits on the couch, a silent observer to the strained atmosphere between you and Alex. His concern for you is obvious but he tries to maintain a neutral expression, not wanting to fuel any further conflict.

Jake's heart lurches in his chest as you mention your pregnancy. A mixture of anger and sadness flashes in his eyes, quickly masked by his usual composed expression.

He clenched his fists slightly, a sign of the storm of emotions he's holding back. Jake turns a cold gaze on Alex, silently admonishing him for his past actions.
