Nightstorm didn't hesitate, and leaped down on top of the large tortoiseshell. She dug her claws into the long fur of the cat beneath her, wrapping her dark paws around the cat's neck and pinning her to the ground. She found herself looking into two bright amber eyes.

"Hey, kitty," the tortoiseshell she cat purred. "You do know that I can easily get you off me, right?"

Nightstorm narrowed her eyes, inspecting the muscles rippling beneath the she cat's long fur. The she cat also had the size advantage - Nightstorm felt small in comparison.

"Why don't you get me off you, then?" Nightstorm growled, pressing her claws against the she cat's throat.

"Because I don't want to." the she cat rolled her eyes. "Obviously."

Nightstorm blinked. "That makes no sense."

The she cat purred in response. "A lot about me, and where I come from, doesn't make any sense, kitty. For example, I was told to go out and capture some cats to either add to our ranks or kill for entertainment. What's the point of that when we already have enough cats in our ranks, and watching them get brutally murdered is hardly any fun?"

The she cat paused before continuing. "Anyway, I don't really want to capture these cats, so it would be appreciated if you gave me a few deep wounds so that I have an excuse not to."

Nightstorm stepped off the she cat carefully, but didn't sheath her claws. "No."

The she cat blinked, as if surprised. "Why not?"

"I don't know where you come from, or why your group kills cats for entertainment, but I am not harming a cat who refuses to defend herself," Nightstorm meowed firmly.

The she cat leaped to her paws. "Would you rather us fight it out, then? Getting us both injured in the process? Or would you prefer me to take those cats that I was originally going to capture anyway?" She challenged, her long claws gleaming in the light of the setting sun.

Nightstorm nearly jumped out of her fur as a cat appeared by her side, smoky black fur reminiscent of the long shadows behind them.

"New option: how about I give you a few wounds to remember?" Shadow growled, flexing her claws impatiently.

The she cat fixed Shadow with a hard amber stare. "I don't care who does it. As long as someone gives me an excuse to return empty-pawed, I'll take it."

The tortoiseshell she cat crouched low to the ground, seeming to brace herself as Shadow leaped on top of her, wrestling her to the ground with ease. Nightstorm flinched as Shadow ran her claws down the she cat's flank, the she cat gritting her teeth as blood pooled on the ground around her.

A squeal pierced the air.

Nightstorm whipped around, watching as Dawnbreeze slapped her tail across Spirit's wide blue eyes, licking his ear comfortingly.

She turned back around as she saw Shadow stepping off the she cat, satisfied. Two large scores down the side of the tortoiseshell's flank wet the fur around it, turning it a deep red colour. A few more scratches dotted the long fur of the she cat, and she winced slightly as she got to her paws.

"Thanks for that," the she cat meowed, beginning to turn towards the fence. "If we ever meet again, the name's Tiger."

Tiger leaped up the fence, groaning with the effort and practically dragging herself up the smooth wood, leaving long streaks of blood behind. "I should hope we don't meet again, though. If you were paying attention, kitties, meeting you again would mean capturing you and taking you to my group. My group is not a nice place to be."
