The morning sunlight filtered through the windows of Zee Torres’s room, illuminating her worried face as she stared at the ceiling. The events of the past week swirled in her mind—powers awakening, strange encounters, and now, a mysterious woman offering answers."Are we really doing this?" Zee muttered to herself before sitting up. She grabbed her phone and texted their group chat:
Zee: Guys, sure na ba tayo? Ano ba talaga plano natin?
It didn’t take long before her phone buzzed with replies.
Kalli: Feeling ko dapat tawagan natin. Pero paano kung may masamang balak siya?
River: We can’t just ignore it. She knows too much.
Aria: What if it’s a trap? Pero curious din ako kung anong alam niya tungkol sa powers natin.
Niamh: I’m scared, but we need answers.
Hannie: Okay, pero paano natin siya iko-contact? Wala naman tayong number niya.
Zee sighed. "Good point." She typed back.
Zee: Meeting tayo sa park after class. We’ll decide together.
The six of them gathered under their usual tree. Zee paced back and forth while the others sat on the grass.
“We don’t even have her number,” Hannie pointed out. “So paano natin siya tatawagan?”
“True,” Niamh added. “Baka naman hindi na natin siya makita ulit. Maybe it’s for the best.”
“Hindi,” River said firmly. “She knows something. I can feel it.”
Aria crossed her arms. “But what if she’s lying? Or worse, what if she’s connected to whatever gave us these powers?”
“Then we’ll find out,” Kalli said. “Pero paano nga? Wala naman tayong contact details niya.”
Just as Zee was about to respond, a swift breeze passed through them. Niamh shivered and looked down.
“Wait,” she whispered, picking up a card that had seemingly appeared out of nowhere. “Ano ’to?”
Everyone leaned in as Niamh held up a sleek, black calling card.
On it were the words:
Dr. Sophia Patel
Vyrthana Research Facility
[Phone Number]
[Location]Zee’s heart raced. “Saan galing ’yan?”
“Wala naman akong nakitang tao,” Kalli said, her voice low.
“Me neither,” River added, scanning the area.
Aria narrowed her eyes. “Whoever gave this must’ve been watching us again.”
“Creepy,” Hannie muttered, holding her arms.
Zee took a deep breath and held the card. “So, tatawag ba tayo o hindi?”
The group fell silent, exchanging nervous glances.
Finally, River nodded. “We have to. This might be the only way to get answers.”
Zee pulled out her phone and dialed the number on the card. It rang twice before a calm, familiar voice answered.
“Dr. Sophia Patel speaking.”
