Dean and Kat were both asleep, sharing a bed as they usually did, Sam getting his own since he was the biggest. It was never a problem considering they'd shared countless cramped motel rooms over the years. With them constantly being on the move and often limited to a single room, sharing a bed was just the most convenient option.
Kat woke to the sound of the door creeping open, she slowly reached under her pillow, wrapping her hand around the grip of her knife. As she opened her eyes she saw Sam entering the room, carrying coffee. She put her hand over her face in relief, picking herself up off the bed to smile at Sam tiredly.
Sam smiled back at her before directing his focus onto Dean, who was groaning from being woken up.
"Morning, sunshine." Sam sarcastically said to his brother.
"What time is it?" Dean questioned groggily.
"Uh, it's about 5:45." Sam answered.
"In the morning?" Dean and Kat asked at the same time with surprise.
"Yep." Sam said, chuckling slightly at the two of them.
"Where does the day go?" Dean asked, sitting up.
Kat unraveled herself from the covers, lazily pulling herself out of bed. She was wearing a plaid pair of pajama shorts and a gray tank top, rubbing her eyes as she shuffled toward the bathroom, her hair slightly tousled.
Dean caught a glimpse of her, smirking, unable to help himself from glancing over. Sam's eyes flickered to her as well, before he quickly averted them.
Kat, reached for her toothbrush, catching a glimpse of them in the bathroom mirror. She raised an eyebrow, "Um hello?" she called them out.
Sam's face went red for a moment, Dean however just grinned, completely unapologetic.
Kat rolled her eyes, turning around and closing the bathroom door. As she brushed her teeth she could overhear Dean confronting Sam about the fact that he hadn't been sleeping, she felt just as much of a sense of worry as he did, but she knew Sam wasn't going to just 'get over' what happened to Jessica in only a few weeks.
She opened the bathroom door as Dean said, "Seriously, are you still having nightmares about Jess?"
Sam crossed the room, sitting on the other bed across from Dean, handing him his coffee. Kat walked over and sat next to him, reaching over and grabbing her coffee as well.
"Yeah... but it's not just her. It's everything. I just forgot, you know? This job. Man, it gets to you." Sam said in a quiet voice.
"You can't let it. You can't bring it home like that." Dean said, Kat looking at him questionably.
"So, what? All this it...never keeps you up at night?" Sam asked, looking to Kat for answers as well.
Dean shook his head denying, Kat stayed silent for a moment.
"Never? You're never afraid?" Sam questioned him.
"No, not really." Dean said nonchalantly.
Sam leaned forward, reaching under Dean's pillow to pull out a hunting knife, holding it up as evidence. Kat turned away for a moment, scratching the back of her head due to the fact that she just reached for hers moments ago when her paranoia told her something or someone, other than Sam, was entering their room.
Dean took back the knife, "That's not fear. That is precaution." he said, reaching under Kats pillow and pulling out hers as well.
"Your real quiet Kat help me out here." He said, holding up her knife.
