Until the conclusion of the Champions Trophy 2025, former Pakistan pacer Aaqib Javed will serve as the team's temporary white-ball coach. Javed will continue to act as the national team's head selector till the conclusion of the mega-tournament.
He will be the fifth person to take over as the team's white-ball coach in the past year. With the goal of hiring a permanent white-ball head coach by the conclusion of the ICC Champions Trophy, which is set to take place from February 19 to March 9, the Pakistan Cricket Board said Monday that it will begin the hiring process.
Jason Gillespie, the team's red-ball coach, briefly took over as Pakistan's white-ball coach after Gary Kirsten left the position before he could captain the team in an ODI. In the ODI portion of the Australian trip, Pakistan won the series under Gillespie.
Javed will have to miss the team's campaigns against Zimbabwe in three ODIs, three T20Is, and as many white-ball matches in South Africa due to what is anticipated to be a jam-packed schedule coming up to the Champions Trophy. A triangular home series with South Africa and New Zealand will come after it.
