This day can't get any worse, can it? Picking up customers trash when they are literally sitting right next to the garbage can. Why on Earth am I working at a cafe? I am cleaning a huge mess that took me about twenty minutes to clean up.

Right, because my parents forced me to go out and earn money for college. But I already have 2 scholarships, one for Yale and the other for Stanford. So, why can't I just sit in my room study and read.

"Excuse me ma'am, is this seat available?" I turned around to see a guy, maybe in his mid twenty's. "Um, yes it is. I just finished cleaning it. Here let me," I pulled out a seat for him to sit. After he sat down, I asked him if he wanted anything before I head back to the front counter.

"I'm fine as if right now. I will let you know if I need anything." His voice is deep and raspy, but so soft spoken. "Okay, well like I said, if you do need anything, I'm right at the front counter. Have a nice day." He gave me a small nod before I walked away. Maybe this day won't be so bad after all.

Finally, my shift is over. Unfortunately, my stupid self can't say no when the manager asked me to help them clean up...again. I decided to go over to the more secluded area where it was less messier. When I got over there, I see the man from earlier today. Why is he still hear, did he not hear us saying we were closing?

I walked over to him and tapped him on his shoulder. "Excuse me sir? The cafe is closed now." He turned his head to me and gave me a small glare. "I know it is, but I have to finish something before leaving." Wow, rude. He was nice earlier. This grump. "I understand that sir, but I have to ask you kindly, to leave." "Look girl, this will only take me a few more minutes and then I will leave. I am already in a bad enough mood, so don't make me more irritated than I already am."

This guy can't just, whatever, not going to argue with this old grump. "Fine sir, but I have to clean up over here." He gives me a small nod of acknowledgement and went back to working on his laptop. This was going to be a long 5 minutes.

As I finished up cleaning, I can see him packing up as well. "I hope you have a good night sir." I tried to be polite as I can without showing my frustration. "Good night. Alexis."

"Yeah tha-" Wait, how did he even know my name. I wasn't even wearing my badge at all today. "Wait, sir-" I tried to call out to him but he already left the sir, got onto his bike and rode away. Dammit, just what I need. Some old man knowing my name and I don't know how and why... Why do I feel like this isn't going to be last time I will be seeing him.

After doing everything I was told to do by the manager, I went to my car and drove home. I decided to call my mom to ask her if she remembered to get her dresses today after work. Come on mom, answer the phone.

"Hello?" A soft spoken woman answered the phone. "Hey mom, I was just wondering if you got your dresses today from the store." I can hear her sigh from the other side of the phone. "No, I forgot. Today was such a busy day and I totally forgot. I also had to pick your father up from work because his truck broke down again. I keep telling him to get a new one but he just won't listen."

I chuckled at the thought of her trying to convince dad to buy a new truck. Dad had that truck for over 15 years, he is practically glued to that thing. "Mom, you know how he is. He is more stubborn than a mule. Anyways, want me to pick you up and we can go get it? They close in like 2 hours so we have plenty of time." "That would be great, I'll be waiting here. See you in a bit." I told her a good bye and hung up from the car. Parents these days. No matter how much they get on my nerves, I still love them. I know they only want what is best for me. Sometimes though, it does get too much...
