Annabeth was exhausted after a long week of exams and projects, so when her friends came over unexpectedly, she was asleep
When her friends arrived, Percy greeted them at the door. They were immediately taken aback.
"Um, who are you?" asked Sasha, the self-appointed leader of their group.
"I’m Percy," he said, leaning casually against the doorframe. "Annabeth’s boyfriend."
Sasha blinked, clearly trying to process the idea. "Boyfriend? Annabeth never mentioned a boyfriend."
Percy shrugged. "Well, here I am. She’s inside resting, though, so keep it down, alright?"
But Sasha wasn’t the type to listen to warnings. She brushed past Percy and into the living room, motioning for the others to follow. Percy sighed, knowing this would only get worse.
Inside, Annabeth lay curled up on the couch, wrapped in a blanket, her hair slightly messy from sleep. Percy stood by the door, arms crossed, as Sasha approached Annabeth.
"I wouldn’t do that if I were you," Percy warned when Sasha reached out to shake Annabeth awake.
Sasha shot him a smug look. "Well, you’re not me."
Percy smirked, leaning against the wall. "Alright, don’t say I didn’t warn you."
Sasha shook Annabeth’s shoulder firmly. "Annabeth, wake up!"
The reaction was immediate and dramatic. Annabeth shot up, her face pale with fear as she screamed, "Percy!"
Percy was at her side in an instant, his hands on her shoulders. "Hey, Wise Girl, it’s me. You’re safe. I’m here."
Annabeth’s panicked breathing slowed as she focused on him, clutching his arm like a lifeline.
Meanwhile, Sasha stood frozen, wide-eyed, and speechless. Percy turned his gaze on her, a smug smile playing on his lips. "Told you."
Annabeth glared at Sasha, still clutching Percy’s arm. "What’s going on?" she asked hoarsely.
Sasha stammered, "We—uh, we just wanted to hang out… I didn’t know you’d—um…"
Annabeth sighed and leaned into Percy, her exhaustion evident. "You guys couldn’t wait five minutes for me to wake up on my own?"
Percy chuckled softly. "They’re lucky I was here to calm you down. Your nightmares pack a punch."
Annabeth groaned, burying her face in his shoulder. "Next time, I’m locking the door."
The room was silent for a moment before Sasha cleared her throat awkwardly. "Maybe we should… come back later."
Percy gave her a look that screamed, "You think?" as the group shuffled toward the door. Once they were gone, Percy turned to Annabeth, brushing a strand of hair out of her face. "You okay?"
Annabeth nodded, a small smile tugging at her lips. "I am now. Thanks, Seaweed Brain."
"Anytime, Wise Girl." And kissed her on the head as she played down on his lap.
