Chapter 2 I Choose You

Soyo arrives at the Professor Oak's Laboratory. I burst through the laboratory doors slightly out of breath.

Soyo: *Pants.* "Professor Oak! I'm here for my first Pokémon!

Professor Oak, adjusting his glasses while calibrating a red device. He heard someone opened the door and turns to face Soyo.

Professor Oak: "Ah Soyo! Right on time. And I see Blue's already making himself at home with the PokéBalls.

Blue, lounging against the nearby counter, smirks lazily. He throws a PokéBall into the air, catching it effortlessly with one hand.

Blue: "Took you long enough, Soyo. I was starting to think you'd lost your way."

I, ignoring Blue's comment, focus on Professor Oak.

Soyo: "Professor, can I see the Pokemon?"

Professor Oak, with a knowing smile, nods.

Professor Oak: "Of course, Soyo. Let's see... Ah, here are the starter Pokemon. Choose wisely."

Professor Oak places the three PokéBalls on the white table; each of them has different types of Pokémon inside: Bulbasaur, the Grass-type Pokémon; Charmander, the Fire-type Pokémon; and lastly, Squirtle, the Water-type Pokémon. I feel nervous about which Pokémon I would choose to start my own journey, while I see Blue still smirking at me. Blue, still smirking, leans forward, his eyes fixed on Soyo.

Blue: "Don't worry, Soyo. I'll be sure to give you some pointers on picking a strong Pokémon. You'll need all the help you can get."

I grit my teeth, suppressing my annoyance.

Soyo: "I don't need your help, Blue. Thank you very much."

I walked towards the starter Pokémon, a slight tremor in my hands betraying my nerves, determined to prove Blue wrong.

Soyo (POV): 'Alright, Soyo. Choose wisely.'

Soyo picks one of the PokéBalls in the middle and throws it up in the air.

Soyo: "I choose you!"
