...

...

"Huff... huff..."

I stopped, panting, only after running a considerable distance.

I've run far enough, surely they won't follow me anymore?

Looking back, the empty corridor showed no sign of the bald man I had seen, not even an ant.

"Phew..."

I let out a sigh of relief and sat down, catching my breath.

That man must still be looking for me...

Just imagining that scary man coming to catch me sent shivers up my spine.

He's not here now, but he might come looking for me, so maybe I should return to my containment cell.

At least if I stay in my cell, he won't barge in and cut me down.

"Upsy-daisy."

Being shorter now, I could jump up from a sitting position without using my hands on the floor.

There was no real need to get up like that... but I just felt like it.

What? It's impressive.

I stood up to return to my cell, but a problem arose.

I had run away in such a panic that I didn't know where I was.

An empty corridor in front of me.

An empty corridor behind me.

Uh... is there a lost child announcement or something?

...

...

[Employee Louis, perform Insight work on O-01-39.]

"Um, the work on 'Spider Bud' just finished."

Does this damned company not have any break time?

Louis contemplated transferring to another department as he headed towards the containment cell of O-01-39.

'O-01-39... that's the girl with the white hair, right?'

Well, she doesn't move much during Insight work, so it should be fine.

Louis opened the containment cell door with a lighter step than his first visit.

"Beginning Insight work on O-01-39..."

But as Louis manipulated the panel and announced the start of the work, he froze in place.

The girl who was supposed to be in the containment cell was nowhere to be found.

"Huh? Wait, where did she go? Manager, Manager!"

[Employee Louis, perform Insight work on O-01-39... what the, where did she go?]

...

The Manager, who had been peacefully overseeing the company, was now in a state of panic.

The newly arrived ALEPH-class anomaly 'Little Girl' had disappeared from her containment cell.

Usually, an anomaly escaping wouldn't cause this much alarm. But 'Little Girl' was a very unusual case.

Because until physically entering the containment cell, neither the company system nor the departmental Sephirah were aware of her escape.

Moreover, the anxiety was amplified as she was an ALEPH-class anomaly, whose escape could result in a massacre, potentially destroying one or two departments.

The Manager grabbed the microphone and shouted urgently.

[Emergency situation. Trumpet level 2 is declared. The contained anomaly with identification code O-01-39, commonly known as Little Girl, has escaped.]

[As the effects of this anomaly's escape are unknown, all employees are strongly urged to immediately contact their departmental Sephirah and subdue the anomaly if a girl with pure white hair is spotted.]

Not forgetting to include a grim warning.

"Please... let nothing happen."
